Bullet drop with the carbines is also rather significant in comparison with the M16. Or any other weapon really.
The .30 carbine cartridge isn't a downsized rifle cartridge like say 7.92x33 kurz was. .30 carbine is a pistol cartridge. It's actually very similar to .32 magnum. For a revolver. It was based off a self loading cartridge made back in 1905 for the Winchester 1905 self loading rifle. Which was just a centre fire version of the earlier 1903 model which was a rimfire design in .22. .22 originally being designed for revolvers way back in the 1860s. Designing the new carbine cartridge like this made it a rather short range weapon.
Ya same with the M1. It really lacks in damage. I pumped 3 rounds into a guy who was standing still and he 1 shot me with a pistol. Then later i burst into a room and it took 3 shots before he died and that was pretty close range like 5. 6 meters.
