m14e2
would the m14e2 as an early war LMG ever be possible? I think it's a pretty good looking and interesting weapon. however i'm unsure how realistic having it would be because I'm unaware how much use it saw.

There were well over 20,000 conversion kits produced to make M14s into M14E2s/A1s. They saw a good bit of use by the U.S. Army but were quickly given, and graciously accepted, to the Marines who kept using them in 'Nam. As well as being used by shipboard Marines well into the 1970s.

I would like to see it be given to US Army early war, while USMC get it for mid-war. And after all, ♥♥♥♥ like the Duckbill Shotgun, silenced XM21, and SVD dragunov are in game despite there having been maybe single digit quantities of those things. If anyone wants to argue that an M14A1 is "too unrealistic" to be added, they're talking out their aft end.

thanks i had no idea it was that many. It would be something cool to see

Doubt they'll add it. The current LMG's would outperform the M14 in every way. You'd only have a 20rd mag and the cyclic rate of full auto coupled with the 7.62x51mm would be far too much recoil to put accurate fire down range and you'd burn through the magazine.

What you'd end up with is a "LMG" M14 with a bipod mostly used in semi-auto to be effective.

I doubt it as well but it would still be a cool early war option

It'd just be akin to what the M1918A2 & L2A1 provide. Would it be not as good as the M60? Oh yeah. Would it give the US machine gunners a different play style option? Yeah.

This is pretty much what I was thinking. While a belt-fed MMG/GPMG might be more effective in more scenarios, an automatic rifle definitely has its purposes.

From what I can gather the Marines and also the Army in the early days of the Vietnam war had Automatic Riflemen who would have Full Auto versions of the M14. They'd use these like a SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon) , you'd also have normal riflemen with Semi Auto M14s as well as Machine Gunners with M60s.

Some of the Automatic Riflemen were issued the M14E2 (which was later redesignated the M14A1), as this was a lot easier to control than a Full Auto M14. However it didn't really take off and I also believe the role of the Automatic Riflemen became redundant too once the M16 started replacing the M14.

But yeah I'd love to see the M14E2/ M14A1 in the game, maybe early to mid war.

YES PLEASE.
im so sick of the M60. americans despratly need a new LMG and M14E2 sound like the perfect alternative

"but its gong to be worse than the M60 so whats' the point"
you don't say?

tell that to the people who main the Mosin, DP28 and SKS and M1 carbine. just because a gun is inferior dosen't mean it can't be effective and/or fun to use

The M-60 is a hoot, love it, toted it for real, and in game no issues with it. If you know how to use sights and start low you are good to go.

Ever shoot a M-14 or M1A in rapid semi, lot's of luck keeping it on target, full auto was many times worse. Joke was first round low, second hits, rest are triple a. You aimed low and let rounds walk through target, 3rd round plus are high. The weight of the M60 kept rise rate down, even it climbed.
