is hit detection server side?
As per the question. I remember ro2 was server side as well upon release but people complained and we got it changed to client side for the better (in terms of weapon performance).

Having to lead shots to compensate for latency is not cool and makes bolt action weapons almost wothless against moving targets.

:104: i think the server owner can choose server or client side in the server settings, maybe :trump:

It's clientside.

Its clientside by default but the server host can switch it to full server side.

How do i check which hit reg is used on a server? Because id hate server hitreg.
I want to know too. No reason to reward ppl with bad connection.
I either want server side hit detection or client side with all the more strict ping limits.

No server operator in their right mind would change their server to use server side hit detection. It was horrible in RO2. And I doubt it's improved since then.

It's clientside for very good reasons.

that's what i would hope but i have been on servers where my bullets don't exit the weapon at a speed they should. i always test it out on the ground at spawn to see what i'm dealing with. Is there any way to know via the server browser?

:104: it seems client side hit detection CAN be turned off and on, apparently client side favours high ping and server side requires shooting ahead of the target,, i've noticed no difference between client / server side, if i remember correctly they mention server side in the title or the joining server blurb :CunningPepe:

There are significant differences between clinetside and sever side.

Hop on a match in RO2. Use a bolt action rifle, then use the AT rifle. You'll notice, and I mean really notice, how much harder it is to land consistent hits with the AT rifle on a moving infantry target. You have to lead your targets dramatically further than you should have to realistically.
By far the biggest reason for that is because unlike every other weapon in the game like the bolt action rifles, the AT rifles use server side hit detection.

Client side detection has it's flaws and isn't perfect, but server side would be a much worse experience for almost everyone.
