The M16A1 having 18 rounds?
Title says it all.

The M16 rifle was issued 20 rounds when given to US soldiers
The M16A1 had 20/30 rounds.

RS2 is a fun game a very fun game. But its more of a little pet peeve XD that the "M16A1" has the wrong magazine size :(

The 20 round magazines had a tendancy to jam when you loaded them full. I think the 30 round magazines were issued late 70 or early 71.

17-18 rounds was apparently the more common amount of bullets that soldiers filled their magazines with, in order to prevent wear on the magazine spring and thus prevent feeding issues. 30 rounds will likely never be a thing, as it wasn't common in the war.

But this is a game tho and doesnt have jamming o_O. If the game had jamming i still would use that M16 :D because weapon jamming in games never happens :(

I did read up that US Marines actually loaded their weapons with 18 rounds when the M16 was still very new. But once fixed and stuff 20/30 rounds were fine

Everyone loaded a couple fewer rounds than the magazine could hold. The game reflects this. Deal with it.

M14 with full auto mode was tested and rejected. Never deployed as general issue since the full auto function was deemed an abject failure.

Sorry to intrude with actual history, but it's been covered over and over in the forum.

Happy to help, comrade. 👍

The military described the M14 as "virtually uncontrollable" on full auto. They had good reason to spot weld or remove the mode selector switches on them.

The excessive recoil from "full size" 7.62mm rifle ammunition is part of the reason why the "intermediate" 5.56mm round was developed, along with reduced ammo & weapon weight and improved energy transfer on target.
