Claymore, the most useless weapon.
I mean really, do people ever use this?

Would be cool if they at least gave us an option to swap it for something else.

I put one down in B, in the building with the hole in the wall facing the VC side, i had to move to the right side and out of the hitzone of the claymore, two vc's walk in, i blow the claymore, they don't get hurt at all but i get blown up and i was even further away from my own claymore!!

Only one time i found the claymore useful and thats because this happened:

I like claymores, they are great offensive weapon that have a 60m radius. Many a times ive gotten double kills when the vc try to counter attack a point on supremacy.

It is, but you have to detonate it yourself which makes it incredibly situational and only practical in defensive situations. Good luck getting much use out of it as the US on Territories maps in which you -- not the NVA/NLF -- are expected to constantly be moving forwards ...

My question is how does it actually work?

I tend to use it like a C4 charge and just demo it when someones right on top of it, but does it actually take the ball bearings into account in the game?

So you should place "front towards enemy" towards your target area?:AceofSpades:

Dunno how accurate this is:

Never been killed with one, and the few times I tried to use them, didn't get any kills either.

I've only found it useful when the 64 man servers think it'll be funny to play skirmish. I got 2 triple kills using claymores. The front blast radius is QUITE large.

Yes, it does. In the aformentioned situations, I basically killed everyone down a choke point. It has a backblast as well, but the majority of the blast is forward facing. It's essentially a gigantic shotgun.

its highly effective but you really need to be ambushing people with it. ive used it in tunnels and in Hue City as VC after pillaging an enemy corpse. on a map where the fighting goes back and forth its hard to use it with great effect because it requires you to be in a spot watching where the claymore is.

"highly effective need to be ambushing people"

I can imagine.

Sitting in a bush with your clicker, overwatching your little claymore 100 meters away from you.

That's how you win games boyz.

Worthless device in this game. Wouldn't catch me EVER using it. Faster to just shoot someone than ♥♥♥♥ around with the clicker and hope you can switch in time when you totally fail at using the clay.

I tried to use them in a tunnel once. Put 2 down and blew them up as soon someone came around the corner. It happened to be a teammate so I haven't used them since. One of the last screenshots I made is actually the aftermath of his body in the tunnel.

Claymores are very situational. Tripwire Traps are even more-so. Tripwire Traps can't even be deployed save for in like 1 or 2 spots on some maps.

I think the issue with claymores is that they're very much a defensive tool. And the US is always on offense.

Only use seems to be to place it in a building you are attacking or defending, and if you get pushed out/killed, blow it up. DOn't know if they last after death though.

I don't usually use claymore as often. If you could use it at the right timing and catch them off guard, they pack quite a punch. Normally, I use the claymore to create not just a booby trap, but I could at least denied them from entry.

I come across a VC who happen to be right next to a tunnel. What I did is place a claymore based on where he might come from and boom. I got one VC and destroyed the tunnel.
