Washed out colors
Anyone else notice that since the last wave the colors in game, especially Hue City, look washed out with a kind of grey tint? When you open the pause menu everything looks like it did last wave, but outside of that it's pretty ugly. It also seems to make shadows way darker than they should be.

Yeah this game has got some funky color issues. Either everything is way too vibrant or way too dull. Song Be (in previous waves before change) is a good example. On Song Be, if you're in a helicopter, the treetops and mountains look so bright that it's unrealistic, yet when you are in the jungle among the dense trees, it looks great. JungleCamp is a further example. In JungleCamp, you are always below the treeline and it looks fantastic, but if you spectate and go above the trees, then you will see that the treetops are super vibrant just like SongBe used to be. There is something wrong with the light/shadow difference.

its a processing volume filter you can put on the map, it has changed a few times on the maps until they find the right one.

I noticed this too. Everything looks too bright and grey but normal when the game is paused.

Here are screenshots with and without the pause menu on:

Graphics settings are on high.
With the pause menu on it looks normal and natural but when I am playing it is very bright like in the first screenshot.

It looks like a problem with gamma, contrast or something like that. Its not using nvidia colour settings. I've tried reducing the brightness on my monitor, which only very slightly helps. The in-game brightness selection makes it look worse so I'm keeping that at default.
Any thoughts? Maybe a dev could help here

Exact same problem here, the colors in-game while playing are way too bright / look washed out or something, especially noticable on the sky and some of the streets and buildings ... press ESC to show the menus and it looks good!

Examples:

While playing (looks way too bright): https://i.imgur.com/vALr5Lf.jpg
In menu (after pressing ESC, looks good): https://i.imgur.com/UziRttL.jpg

2 more examples: https://imgur.com/a/T82ro

Settings were on Ultra, custom, enhanced or default post processing makes no difference, monitor is calibrated, nvidia control panel settings max performance all configured okay ... the problem is definitely with (this build of) the game.

Is there any new info about this, is it a known problem (for some) that's being worked on? Devs?

found in 'adjust desktop color setting'.

Look at the pictures I've posted earlier (the colors are washed out, missing and/or too bright). Turning up Digital Vibrance won't fix that; too bright colors will become even brighter and colors in the sky and on walls will still be missing, remain colorless but more intense.

Okay I've fixed the problem with the washed out colors!

Reinstalled the latest GeForce drivers, version 378.78, and now everything some maps look better! Try it out if you have a nvidia gpu.

Update: not fixed yet, while it improved the colors on several maps like Hue City and Hill 937 still look bad.

Sadly that didn't fix it for me. However it has significantly improved my framerate so thanks for the tip anyway.

I'm glad im not the only one who thinks the colors look washed out/ gray. However its only on the maps Song be, Compound, and Hue where I notice this. To me An Lao, Cu Chi, and Hill 937 look fantastic color wise.

My main issue is that everything looks really fuzzy/blurry with FXAA on, and the aliasing is unbearably bad with it off. MLAA doesn't appear to work.

i'd say RO2/RS looked better at this point. guessing a 1440p+ monitor with AA turned off would help but that shouldnt be necessary

You're right, I stand corrected: while it did help on some other maps the colors on Hue City still look very washed out. :(

+1

I really like how they had it last wave. Great colors and looks fresh and alive.
I also don't like how when you use the brightness option in the menus, it just turns everything painfully white, even if you move the bar a tad bit up. You can't even use the "M" Map because it just turns into a white square on the screen.

In this scene the problem is very clearly noticable:

Build: 170315
Map: Hill 937

In-game playing (much too bright, washed out, colors and many details missing / not visible):
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=887712467

In menu after pressing ESC (everything looks much better, colors and details are visible again):
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=887712495

Video settings: (post process preset: Enhanced or Default makes no difference)
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=887712434

Devs, can we get a response to this? Is it a known problem? Are you guys working on it?

If you need more info tell us so, if you remain completely silent about this issue I'll probably
hold off purchasing the game although I do like it and that would be a shame!

That looks like your brightness is set really high.

As far as I know all the menu does is lower the brightness.

But you can also change the brightness in the settings itself.
