That wasn't what he said. He just mentioned Vietcong 2. In fact he actually questioned as to what they called it in that game.
The gun was originally called "Baikal Double Barrel Shotgun". He said they needed a better name than that.
It's pretty obvious they've poured far more research into the game than most other FPS devs have, especially given the budget they have. And this is coming from someone who's already whined about the AK's in the game in the past.
They could probably just shut themselves in some monastery somewhere just "researching" the Vietnam War for 5 years and we'd still probably see oversights and errors in the game. That's just the nature of the beast imo.
Oh yeah it doesn't even list that the NVA used shotguns i know, But the NVA used anything they could get their hands on, And im sure realistically they could get their hands on a IZH-43 easily.
Im 99,9999999999% sure IZH 43 is middle 80-s gun. Only one way to vietnamese get that gun during vietnamese war is meet Marty McFly.
Thing is a lot of weapon manufacturers will take an existing product, Change something about it, Give it the same name, And than re-release it with a new date, Truth is the only way to know for sure is to ask baikal since there is little information about the gun anywhere else.
Exactly the same as the 43 except for its internal workings.
