RS2 voice acting - the biggest letdown of 2017
Compare the voice acting of RS2 to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldNSMnEeKio

Now we have some TERRIBLE voice acting combined with some bad fake vietnamese accent (in the vietnamese teams).

RO2/RS1 was especially widely known in the gaming scene for its immersive voice acting.
How the hell did they think it's a good idea to put it so low on priority in RS2? (There is no way they had high priority on it, otherwise these voices we have now wouldn't have been the outcome.)

Amercains sounds awful to meh.

Half the time they sounds bored or just not into it.

Like, "get back to the fight, soldier" line for US annoucer. You think your commander would be on your ass some more from leaving the combat area

I feel a bit strange listening to a guy moaning for 7 minutes.

Did you pirate the game by any chance? Because you know, RO2/RS and even RO:OST are only available on Steam.

Oh the guys on my server were having a field day with the completely absurd vietnamese voice acting. Most sound like they were forced to try and sound overly bad or racist.

Only thing that bothers me is that they used the japanese "burning alive" voice lines for the northern vietnamese

The Americans sound fine for me, but the Viet voices are a joke. Honestly, it sounds like they hired some random Vietnamese-American from LA, who maybe grew up speaking it at home with his parents once and a while. The biggest let down is the lack of 100% native voices for the Vietnamese. They should have re-hired the VA company that brought in the guys who did the Japanese lines in RS1, they were fantastic. So good, that they ported the death screams from being put on fire.

I thik they hired an Adian person, not rilly Vietnam one. Could be reaon for prowlem.

This. I thought after Rising Storm the devs wouldn't even waste time with english lines like they did in RO2 since most people preferred the immersion native voices brought. After combing through the options before playing and not seeing an option for this I presumed this was the case.

Instead I was immediately disappointed to hear an english line spoken in a heavily accented (good or bad, I don't care nor am I an expert on this region's accents. Though I must admit they do sound fairly humorous when trying to say words like Echo.) manner. I was even more disappointed when I heard some lines spoken in full native language. Honestly, I would rather take one or the other. Either give me full native or just have everything in english, this mixed stuff drives me up a wall. I hope that one day we will get a full native voice over for the PAVN and NLF factions but at this point I am not holding my breath.

I don't want them to remove the NVA voice acting, ve are takin' charREEEE, but the American voice acting is legitimately the worst VA i've heard in a very long time. I get the impression they paid the actors in whatever they could swipe from the copy room when no one was looking. That and it sounds like there's maybe 4 voice actors in the entire game.

Not exactly impressive with the supposedly standalone title. I let it go during the beta since I assumed they were going to clean this stuff up for a late Q2 release but then they decided to "release" the game despite having changed absolutely nothing from the open beta.

", it's ♥♥♥♥ing realistic." Agree totally. Does anyone at all remember Men Of Valor? It faltered in a few areas (suffered from console-itus).... but it was a pretty sweet Nam experience otherwise. And to date I have yet to hear ANY Nam PC fps experience with Vietcong voice acting that even comes close to Men Of Valors. The VC voices were truly sh*t scarry.... and it immersed the players into feeling that they were really there in the sh*t against the VC.

Now, it takes just as much time to do it wrong as it does to do it right. Unless of course you are trying to do VC voice acting like it is being delivered Disney style. Hopefully we will see some Hard Core Nam weap/voice/vis mods headed our way when the Unreal Modders get a hold of this game.

That`s not to say RS2 Vietnam doesn`t deliver. I just think a bit more in the right areas like... real Viet voice acting.... would have been a great kick for RS2 Nam.....

After the way tripwire treated modders in the past? I hope we'll see some mods but i'm not holding much hope.

The stereotypical "racist" asian accent commonly stems from Vietnamese and Thai. The line between "might be a racist parody" and "100% realistic and spot on Vietnamese accent when speaking English" is almost solely notional.

Nah, Vietcong (2003) had the best Vietcong/NVA voice acting. They actually hired actual North Vietnamese voice actors for all the dialogue and/or battle cries/taunts. It was top notch.

It was a better Vietnam game as well, IMHO.

That being said, the vietnamese voice acting is indded a joke in this game. It sounds like a google translate generator, but the worst thing is that it's an actually human being attempting to speak vietnamese.

The way its spoken, with all the long unnatural pauses between each words make me think the voice actor was struggling with the accent or something.
