Bots extend a game's life and allow queue times to not be a factor if you want to jump in and play.
A lot of people enjoy shooters like this, but don't enjoy online elitism and stress.
I don't understand why anyone would complain about bots before they were added? Why would you tell someone not to add options to a game that might increase the game's popularity and community?
Day of Infamy seems the superior option in war shooters right now as a result, since it has full bot support now.
Gotcha. I think if the AI were programmed better (They don't have to be human equivalents, just competent enough to pose some challenges in large numbers and higher difficulties), there wouldn't be complaints. Of course, that's the hard part, but I think it's worth it for the tradeoffs (Longer living game, less frustration over full servers or long queues, more casuals and older gamers picking up the game).
EA's new Battlefront sure could have used better offline. it got reamed for its lack of singleplayer/bots/offline play, and some of its game modes were so unplayed by the community, you couldn't play them without 50 minute waits. Titanfall 1 also suffered to the point Titanfall 2 added sp content. You couldn't even finish the tutorial without other players in that game, and nobody was playing it after a certain point!
Even though EA is still not fully supporting it (it's not rocket science, but for some reason game devs of the past did it way better than modern devs seem to be able or willing to), they are doing more now.
I just like futureproof stuff and the occasional easy session. I mean it's thanks to the braindead bots that Ostfront is at least still somewhat playable during regular times.
