Battlefield comparison?
I'm a huge battlefield fan and when I heard of Rising storm 2: Vietnam I instantly got my hopes up. I understand this doesn't have the same blockbuster budget as a game as Battlefield.

How does this game play? I don't care about current bugs, issues etc. but only the gameplay. As a huge BF fan, is this a no brainer to pick up?

Apples and oranges.

They're completely different games but imo RS2 is far superior to BF Vietnam.

It has a Commander class who can call in artillery/recon/etc, and Squad Leaders need to identify and mark targets for the Commander to do his thing. It's much more lethal and one shot is often all you need to kill a target at any range.

Basically this is the anti-Battlefield. Smaller-scale squad-level engagements that can snowball into huge fights, virtually zero TTK, unforgiving combat, and no casual BS. This is like Hardcore mode ramped up to 11.

Sounds refreshing to be honest. I'm jumping in.

Stick to cover, if you play like Battlefield you are going to have a bad time :D

In 2017 the lower budget games are actually better than the big titles especially EA games.

It's more tactical than Battlefield. I played every battlefield since Battlefield modern combat (so didn't play the oldest ones) but I prefer the gameplay of this game. It's slower but the commandant, radio and squad leader give a great feeling of teamplay that is missing in Battlefield.

It's almost one shot kill tho and no kill cam but that's what I like in this game.

Better than Battlefield in every way if you're into tactical shooters. Between Squad and RS: Vietnam you shouldn't even think about buying another Battlefield game anytime soon.

It's likely going to be very confusing first up. I would highly reccomend watching the tutorial videos in the main menu before playing.

Supremacy mode is almost the same as Conquest mode but with a twist, i don't really like it. It should just be a big Capture The Flag mode.

I like the twist. Makes it way more tactical than the territories game mode.

But of course tactics + essentially a free weekend = no tactics. So there was that issue this weekend lol.

RO2 also has more focused frontlines and better teamplay.

They are different.

But I as a huge battlefield fan, always liked to play RO2,RS and RS2. It's just not an arcade game, keep that in mind!

I agree. I find the Supremacy mode more fun and think it lends itself to being at least more dynamic in replayability and tactics. It's not the more linear attack and defend stratedgy of Territories.

Should be even more of a blast after the player base evens out.

If there's anything more childish and passive aggressive than prefacing your reply with "ummmmm" I don't know it. Never change, Steam forums.

Cablemustache has a point there, childish or not, he is right. All the people walking around saying: " If you like that, you won't like this " is actually immature, childish and not thought through very well.

You can like quick arcady games with small to no realism, you can enjoy fantasy games, you can like classical music and metal music, you can like fish, vegetarian meals and icecream. And guess what? You can like. Not everything is black or white. I liked to play the old Call of Duty games, I like to rarely throw a look in CS:GO, I liked arma, I like battlefield, I like World of Tanks but I also like War Thunder, on top of that, I like RS2.

Whatever people like is their choice, there is no profile or guideline or set of rules to follow when liking a certain food, video game, movie or song.

And just because someone might come from a more arcade game than RS2, doesn't mean she/he wouldn't like a little change from time to time.

So, Cablemustache's statement is pretty correct and accurate if you ask me.

Talking about how bad steam forums are and how things never change, you are the only person who is behaving childish right now, getting one off about something insignificant as " ummm ". Not everyone wants to write like a court clerk.

Have a good one.
