Only 18 rounds in the magazine for the M-16?
Shouldn't it be 20?
Also what happened to the 30 round mags, I run out way to quickly.

I believe the reason for the 18 rounds per mag is that M16s with the 20 round mags tended to jam often when fully loaded. So the troops loaded in 18, to stop the gun from jamming and the developers decided to go with it. Im fairly certain, that 30Rnd mags will be added at some point.

I think it is fair... the ak has more but the recoil is so hard.

yeah it was 20, and I dont think 30 round mags were a thing then, they came out late war, the first mags were standard 20 round mags.

I heard that they want to add 30 round mags as a choice of ammo, so you can take 8 20 round mags, or 4 30 round mags. That sounds great, was a bit disappointed to find out that it's not in the game yet.

They had 30 rnd mags during the first beta waves, they were removed because all the maps take place before they became standard issue. Also because no one used the 20rnd mags as a result.
The 30 round mags were op vs the AK

Since we are not going for heavy realism..I think it would be nice to have a 20 rd mag isntead of 18rd. We dont have a weapon jam function and the magic tags would not suit this nerf for the M16. Even if troops did load only till 18. For the sake of the game balance 20 would be good.

They could also implement the 30 rd mag. It wont be a game breaker as the M16 has terrible sights unless you have 4k moniter. I mean, even in RO original we had rare weapons like Mkb 42 and the AVT 40.


M16 was not a reliable weapon (early stages)...only the calibre was...caused more tumbling.

AK is famous for a reason. Its cheap and very reliable in adverese environment for its cheap price.

It's done so the spring in the magazine doesn't wear as fast, not because of jamming issues(the M16a1 almost had no jamming issues, the M16 had.).

When you fully load a magazine the spring will come under more pressure, making the chance of it losing it's strenght faster bigger.

It's a method done with alot of guns actually.

20 and 30 rounds are like the most boring way to buff the M16. It was mentioned a few months back that M16 reloading from empty should be quicker as the mag just drops out - that's a much more interesting way to buff it (if it really needs balancing).

It became rather standard to role with 17 - 18 rounds in the thing for reliablity. That is not to say that folks did not stick 20 in them ever. Toss up if it would feed reliable. As to the why... Could be crappy spring in the mag. Or the simple fact that the mag followers sucked and could bind. Or the fact there was no curve to the mag and the 5.56 round is slightly tapered. Probably all of the above. But they worked well with 17-18 rounds.

Hmmmm easy 1 shot kills with m16 out to 250 meters. Ak its a bit harder to hit stuff and more recoil. It actually is pretty balanced as is right now.

There is no need for speeding up the reload...no we dont need arcade like fast pace experience.

But we are not going for hyper realism either so its would better to make 20 rd instead of that silly 18rd change. I mean not all mags had problems topping up, right?...


30 rd mag after some later release if there are maps based on Late Vietnam war fights. It certainly wont be a game breaker.

Actually letting the mags hold 20 rounds is something I want them to do. I also still think the Type 56(or at least one of the AK variants) needs a little better accuracy.
Other than that the rifles are pretty much fine as they are. The M16 is extremely good, it doesn't really 30 round mags, though it would be cool to see them in limited use somewhere in the game in a future update.

idk, the recoil for the AK to me is better than the M16
