Greenhouse completely ruins the game
It is so ridicously OP it's not even funny. What makes it OP isn't the fact you can plant year round, but rather the need to never replant. Like... idk it makes things trivial once you have ancient fruit wine in full production. Why plant anything else? Why even plant outside? I'm thinking of foregoing crop planting in there and opt for fruit trees only. One of each and then the rest split between peaches and pomegranates.

I've deduced my thoughts throughout this thread and came to the conclusion it's not the greenhouse. It's ancient fruit. Enormous base price. It never dies. One harvest can set you up for a mega harvest in summer (day) 1. Every playthrough I've ever done ends with a greenhouse of ancient fruit and 2 sheds of kegs. Every time. When I do other crops like fruit trees or strawberries, I play longer. But ancient fruit? Game over.
I'd say it's not so much the ancient fruit, but the seed maker that makes the combination of ancient fruit and the greenhouse too good.
Yes.

There comes a point in every man/women's life, where you just have to ask yourself; "Is it really worth it?".

Remember, there is no cure for stupidity. (I'm on your side by the way)

I love using the greenhouse for fruit trees.
1) Year round fruit
2) You don't need to worry about hitting them with your axe while trying to clean around them.
3) If they don't grow or advance in quality, it's from something you placed, rather than something that you just can't freaking see! Yes, that's happened to me.

Yeah I think I'm just going to do that instead of ancient fruit. Lol make a peach winery.

Bah! Ancient Fruit in the Greenhouse is so BORING and unimaginative. And if that was your point, you should have said it earlier because I would have agreed. When I first got the greenhouse I used it to grow all my ammassed mixed seeds. Now it's got coffee but that's going to change next spring.

Also, I advise Pomegranets rather than peaches.. You'll need it in the wizard's buncle too and it fetches the same price.

Ok fair enough, yes, that was my point. Oddly enough there's something immensly satisfying about managing a large outdoor crop of ancient fruit.
wow lots of reading here but i would like to throw in that if you planted with any kind of fertilizer; that goes away. and after a while everything in teh greenhouse is default soil. but... i mean.. if you're doing jelly/wine... then it doesn't really matter... since your quality will go iridium anyways

I'm gonna fill my fields with a crop of Spring flowers next spring just to see what happens. Also for the 15 of each crop thing.

See, there are ways to make easy money in Stardew Valley, but they aren't always easy to get TO. Ancient Fruit makes lots of reliable money that times quite nicely with Kegs but you still have to get that Ancient Seed artifact and grow a fruit and put it in a seed maker. These require foraging Level 4 but more importantly gold bars.

Everything really good in Stardew Valley is a lot of work to acquire, such as the bottle-neck for Kegs. It doesn't really MATTER how easy it is to gather the other reseources if you can't get enough Oak Resin, just as the reason you usually can't finish the Community Center until Year Two.is because of that one crop, Red Cabbage.

With Preserve Jars you can buy everything. That's great - if you're obscenely rich, because those babies use a LOT of wood and stone and coal. When it comes to purchasing your resources they're more expensive than Kegs. You always make your money back, but there's no Bank of Pelican Town to take a loan from.

Buying all your resources for Jars is 1420g each. Gotta spend money to make money.

Indeed. Filled a shed with jars by Fall 26. Was not a dauntless task.

I'm inclined to agree with the individual who mentioned earlier that this is the sort of game that you are only as 'OP' as you make yourself. When I unlocked the greenhouse I was in year -4- due to being EA where Duck Feathers and Rabbits feet were like finding someone on Tinder that doesn't have a truckload of emotional baggage. If you find you're burning through the game by doing something, try doing something different. I do understand the concern with making the game too easy, but this is meant to be a relatively chill game. Your mileage is what you make it.
Seraphita May 8, 2018 @ 6:06pm
The game was never meant to do power sleeping anyway. That manner of playing is stupid. Of course you get income faster if you power sleep but you skip everything else as well. So dumb.

I would never want to see myself cheat in such crappy manners. I prefer to play the whole game.
