Greenhouse completely ruins the game
It is so ridicously OP it's not even funny. What makes it OP isn't the fact you can plant year round, but rather the need to never replant. Like... idk it makes things trivial once you have ancient fruit wine in full production. Why plant anything else? Why even plant outside? I'm thinking of foregoing crop planting in there and opt for fruit trees only. One of each and then the rest split between peaches and pomegranates.

Okay, now I know you're kidding, because you need crops from all four seasons, including Gold Star crops, and the animal crops.

Yes, you can unlock the greenhouse in time for winter. Although one of the crops you harvest will only grow in fall. And animals are incredibly labour-intensive when they first start and you'll need machines for Artisian goods.

So... sure. If you know exactly what you're doing, you can get that Greenhouse pretty smooth. If you're lucky. And diligent. And wealthy...

Oh, wait, the Greenhouse is probably the second hardest bundle to unlock without Joja and that's only because it's impossible to grow REd Cabbages in Year One.

In theory, it's OPed. In practice, it's a huge, well-deserved reward for a lot of work.
Red cabbage is for bulletin board. Greenhouse only requires 15 gold star crops from varying seasons, 1 of each fruit tree fruit, and some animal products that I try and poach from the travelling cart if I can. I despise animals they're so annoying needing petting every single day. I'm amassing all this money to plop 14 quality sprinklers for summer 1. I'm ahead of schedule because of treasure chest luck.

Fishing is a great way to make money, but ultimately you must have spent every second of every day fishing. Which means you didn't spend much of it hoeing and watering or foraging, because all of these use up energy and time.

Your argument that the Pantry bundle is easy is completely full of holes when you're deliberately rushing to get the money for if you were doing Joja while saying you're not going the Joja route, but you clearly haven't done any of the things needed for the Community Center route. Even if you do think the Greenhouse is OPed, I'd love to know how you think acquireing all the items for it is 'easy'.

Admit it; you're usually a Joja player who now thinks that because the items required for the bundle are fairly straightforward, true, that they'll be easy to collect and maintain.

I managed to get my Greenhouse by my first winter, but this relied on two things - 1: Knowing exactly what I was doing and 2: using the Name Exploit for Iridium Sprinklers (because watering plants sucks). When people start out, they rarely know exactly what they're doing.

Point is, while you can get it without exploits, it's HARD. Sprinklers use up ore - you either buy it, or mine it, and you need a furnace either way.

Also, funny thing about using the tree fruit... trees take a month to grow and they're EXPENSIVE. You'll never have both Cherry and Apricot before they're out of season.

And man is the Travelling Merchant erratic and expensive.

I'm saving up money for sprinklers. Fruit bats for the fruit trees. I've got my bundles covered I've completed the CC 3 times before. I'm shooting for a spring 2 greenhouse unlock. I sacrificed a lot my first spring to have the cash for sprinklers but even so I managed to get 6 farming, enough money for 15 quality sprinklers (with enough capital left over to plant the 120 spaces), reached 55 in the mines, and reached 10 fishing. Very productive spring.

It's possible now because of being able to rest in bed in the beta. Before the update, it was impossible. You wouldn't have enough energy. Currently there's a bug that allows you to rest while paused but I didn't abuse that... I didn't need to. Only took an ingame hour to get back to max energy after watering 75 spots.
Whirl May 7, 2018 @ 2:30am
Then you know exactly what you're doing. Most people don't.

So you've set yourself the challenge of opening the Greenhouse as soon as possible. Lots of people have. And then they find out that's why it's called a challenge.

It's not exactly something you just pull off by accident in your first or even second games, at least not without studious and analytical use of the Wiki.

Also, Fruit Bats suck. Way too much RNG.

Again, till you record it not gonna believe you.

Here's the thing... the beta changed the meta... Kegs are cheap right? The bottleneck is oak resin but that's easy enough to farm. Preserve jars, however, go from roughly 2k per jar to 8k per jar at dawn of spring 2 due to resource cost hikes. My plan is to unlock greenhouse and start keg production in year 2 rather than do work on it in year 1. My focus is on preserve jars. I want a good stock of those before the year 2 hikes. You won't make any real money until you start refining goods and preserve jars are best for basically every crop except ancient fruit and starfruit.

Edit: fruit bats do not suck idk why people think this. Iridium quality fruit for gifts and no need to invest in any fruit tree for the artisan bundle. Use forest map to get the same mushrooms you lost by picking fruit bats. duh.

Sure, then you'll have the Greenhouse. But you won't have much else. You're admitting it yourself; you got lucky. Does that mean that everybody does all the time?

THere's a lot more than the ability to bleed money to this game.

You know what? I prefer preserve jars too. But man did filling out two sheds and my cellar cost a lot of money.

What are you talking about? I'll have 200 preserve jars and over 200 sprinkler covered spots by winter 1.

Just admit it; your playstyle is money and you've set yourself the Greenhouse challenge. Lots of people do it. You probably will manage it. But not because it's 'easy'.

People wouldn't be so irritated if you just admitted that's what you're doing, because there are SO many other ways to play and money is just one of them.

I have no interest in unlocking the greenhouse before year 2. My interest is at least 2 full sheds of preserve jars. That's my goal.

And where are you going to get the 10,000 wood, 8000 stone, and 1600 coal for the preserve jars? Thats either an absolutely insane amount of money, or an insane amount of energy spent harvesting trees and rocks leaving you no energy for anything else, and the amjority of that coal will be bought at 15g each which will be close to 20-24k gold on its own. Not even counting for the sprinklers required to cover the 200 spots. :S

Buy it before price hikes. I'm sitting on 57K spring 25 with enough refined quartz for 15 sprinklers. That's 120 spots. Should have enough funds for 120 blueberry seeds after my 75 spot strawberry harvest comes in. Fishing in summer can net 3-5k a day. Fully automated farm at the start of summer year 1 can make butloads. I'll shoot for 30 sprinklers @ 2750 each and then invest every cent into jars. Even 50 jars can service a lot of spots due to a quick turnover, and I'll do a lot of winter processing. 50 jars is only around 135k.
