I don't get it, you haven't played 2033 or Last Light yet, why say you beat them all? But you did finish Exodus in 18 hours, that's impressive. A lot of people take twice that long, me included. You do know that each game has two endings, don't you?
As for open world, I'll second that sentiment, I'd like to see it too.

The two endings, one is considered canon to the story, the other an alternative.
These are games with a morality system and choices matter, so the endings are determined by the decisions you make, good/bad, right/wrong etc.
Both DLC for Exodus are pretty good, if you enjoyed Exodus I imagine you won't be disappointed with the add-ons.

If there's going to be a fourth game, the developers let us already know that it would again take place in the metro of Moscow and be a linear game like Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. But I wouldn't hold my breath for the fourth game to drop... Troubles in the world.

The fourth game is dropping in two days now, and it's in VR. Enjoy! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2669410/Metro_Awakening/

If it were "VR supported", it would mean it could run in pancake and VR modes. However, this is a "VR only" title, which means it was made from scratch for being played with your body (spatial positions of your arms and head and body), not with the constricted button-clicking and stick-pushing of controllers or mouse and keyboard. That usually means it's not easily downgradable to the flat screen... For example, the noVR mod for Half-Life: Alyx took years to be playable. So there is little hope of having that game in the flat screen.

I for one am happy for it to be done like this. Not due to the exclusion of pancake players, but because it allowed the game to be properly designed around the more immersive experience of VR. I would really love to see VR getting more in the mainstream.

I disagree with VR. If it hurts development then I don't want to see it; should be developed always as a stand alone VR only title without hindering normal play.
