rust removal bug??
I'm pretty new to the game, but I COMPLETELY stripped everything from the tank, the engine and the turret as well as interiors...
and the game is still saying only 83% rust removal ??
There is literally nothing left on the tank - and every single item on the tank has been repaired but no reinstalled / reassembled because its still saying 83% rust removal???
the tank is a PzKpfw IV Ausf.G

It must be a bug, does this happen when you restart the game?

I closed the game and went to bed after posting that thread- just reloaded the game.. and yeah its still showing 83% rust removal .. and there's still nothing on the tank at all

So apparently re-assembling the tank and adding all the parts back to to the tank, has fixed the issue, its now showing 100% removal - and also fixed the sandblasting and painting problems - which i forgot to mention - I completely sandblasted and painted the tank - but it wasn't showing 100%

The problem is that rust is calculated for total parts assembled or not. So if you look at your tank half put together with all rust removed, it still says rust removal 60% (or whatever) because the parts missing is part of those remaining 40%. I think?
That is very confusing for beginners and counterintuitive. When you analyze what you see, if there are no rust left on those parts that are assembled, it should read 100%. Then if you add a rusty part to it, it should again drop.

Yeah but that should not happen, I think there is a bug here, it should calculate only parts that are installed, for some reason it did count also the ones not assembled ?

Hmm. I saw how removed parts (and fixed/bought) being reinstalled increased the rust completion percentage, just by installing them. Perhaps I'm just not completely sure of how the mechanics work ;) It has to do with the parts that can not be de-rosted - but instead needs replacement, I guess.

That is the issue, the game tells you to find more rusty parts to repair, but in fact you need to get new ones...?

The problem I also had was - I brought all missing parts, and had all parts fully repaired from the tank as well. and all the parts brought were all painted as well - so technically it should of been 100% if it counts all the parts not added on the tank?
something is definetly bugged..
but also I think it should only show what is installed on the tank - because it is extremely confusing for begginers and people that are analyzing what they see - as you said ..
when i look at the tank - and there is nothing on the tank , and its fully de-rusted and sand blasted and painted, and then the game says there's still rust , and sand blasting and painting that needs doing - then I'm left thinking - where?? what is going on ..
this is made alot worse when i take all the parts off the tank - then have them all repaired, sand blasted and painted - and it still shows as having rust, sand blasting and painting needing to be done ...
at that point I'm left scratching my head, and come onto steam asking what??? lol

I will check it, maybe it is something simple. If not, after this patch I will work on this

yea iv had this issue pulled apart whole tank, remove all rust, sandblasted it, painted it and saying 98% or rust and Sand blasting even those nothing is left

@[DeGenerals]Trebor: It may also be that this is the way the game has to work? I can see a point in the way the rust percentage uses the total as a reference. It is just hard to understand at first sight. If it's not intended to work that way, I'm glad we can help making it even better (love the game).

I dont think thats how it is, I did not check this logic yet, but I would rather have the percentage to be displayed only for the current state of the tank, that is, of the parts that are assembled.
James Jun 4, 2020 @ 2:59am
Yes, that is more logic. I'll doublecheck a bit more on the rust rate and parts being somewhere else. Hope to give more input on this so we can land on a solid conclusion, and adjustment if necessary.
