There were quite a few bugs at launch, but from what I saw and played, they all have been resolved by now.
That said, it would be kind of lame to not update the PC version with the new graphics though. Hopefully NISA makes good and do it, but somehow, I doubt they will, at least not in a timely manner, and obviously not for free unfortunately.
That's why I'm asking. I've put over 60 hours into Disgaea on PC so far and I haven't seen a single bug beyond the Item World Level Generation can on rare occasion give crappy layouts that may be impossible to finish or have to be skipped. (Which isn't new, it did that in other versions.)
Just wondering,
As far as I am aware Item World is not bugged in the PC version. It just rarely spits out levels that can't be completed fully because monsters will spawn far away on islands that you can't reach without being lucky enough to have warp tiles on that stage or get even luckier and create one using a geo change.
While you can't kill every enemy to properly complete that stage, you can always skip that level and go to the next one.
I've had one stage out of multiple hundreds where I just couldn't reach the exit because it was on a single tile pillar that was 9 or 10 tiles tall. But you know what you can do? Use a Mr. Gency Exit. Re-enter that item's item world. Problem solved. You start back on the same level but with a new stage layout and new enemies.
And it honestly doesn't matter in the long run, if you're really getting into the meat of this game, you're honestly skipping as many levels as you possibly can because the enemies there are not generally worth your time when you know what story mode stages are good for grinding on.
It's a non-issue for players who are actually invested in playing the game.
If you were talking about Disgaea 1 Complete which is not on PC, no, they didn't change it there either. Almost nothing has changed beyond them replacing Disgaea 1 Monsters with others from later games. Supposedly there's some minor tweaks to the values on those monsters, including buffed health for enemies and decreased exp gains for killing them with their general spawns.
This is especially noticeable since the Galactic Demon was one of the ones that was replaced, by the Rifle Demon, and the Galactic Demon is the main enemy type seen on one of the more well-known late game grinding maps.
Still, that's why you never go into Item World without a Mr. Gency Exit or otherwise a fresh save before entering. With a Mr. Gency Exit if you truely cannot finish a stage on the very rare chance you get a bad seed, then it only takes a moment to just leave and re-enter on the same floor and continue your progress.
If Disgaea 1 Complete ever gets any sort of PC release, I'd expect it to be as an update to Disgaea PC rather than a completely separate release; the art assets (and maybe how Pleinair is unlocked, as I haven't seen any confirmation on that yet) are the only things to change.
Item World generation is tweaked somewhat to give less chances at impossible maps but they still appear.
