When you hit the 150th area to start talents, I'd start with massive criticals, super clicks and passive criticals. Once you get 3 items for crusaders the set bonus talent will really start to help push areas.
It's best to play someone else while it's running so you don't get burnt out.
Ok thanks I'll try to stick with it a little more.
Another thing I find really disturbing is the mission system.
Why would I send crusaders to get enchantment points if they are not part of my team ?
And I can't send my team to get enchantment points because well, I will not have my team anymore for X hours/days ??
And you'll want to send those crusaders because the EP you get from them returning from missions adds to all the crusaders in that bench (can help those you use in your formations).
@Inaeffectif
I agree with BlueberryPoptart - stick with it....
1. The slow beginning allows you to learn the basics of reading each formation ability and 'playing' with them until they work the best with the Base Crusaders.
2. Play EVERY SINGLE EVENT. As soon as you recruit more Crusaders and open more benches then the game changes Exponentially. It is a different game after 2 Events.
3. The regular campaigns are only played between events to generate gems for Jewelled Chests and to hit the Unlocks. The Unlocks are VERY powerful.
4. Learn to set the game running and walk away.... overnight is the easiest but during the day it becomes easiest to do homework, chores, new projects and chill out, just check in 2 times a day and amazingly enough ♥♥♥♥ happens.
5. Run every single EP mission. This is almost more important than the campaigns.
6. Run every single Gear upgrade.
7. Run every single Recruit.
Chill out... this game will requires consistency over long term, not FPS thinking.
PS: Your English is Great
New bench slots won't be unlocked so quickly. Will they? Has the game changed that much since I started playing?
(I started at, or soon after, the game's Steam launch when the first year version of the "Emo's New Moon" Halloween event was running. Back when the mission system didn't exist yet and EP was earned from duplicate gear. (The crafting system didn't exist yet either. So there were no materials from duplicate gear yet.) I was indeed able to recruit both available event characters and at the very least run a bunch of event free plays for chests, but I seem to recall it taking me at least half a year's worth of events before I had the idols and gear built up to reliably be able to take on all of the event objectives for the guaranteed gold chests. If the year 2 and later event content could have existed at that time I'm sure that I would not have been getting past the year 1 content (which is required to access year 2) in those earlier events. And event characters didn't start filling seats beyond the original 20 until year 3.)
But yes... To the topic creator and any other new players out there: However much of it you can handle, try to do as much as you can of every event that comes up. (Try any recruit missions that come up, as well. If possible.) That will get you extra characters to fit into formations / send on missions. Once you get some options to swap out with several of the original 20 characters you'll have a lot more flexibility in how you can manage all of your characters.
With only the default 20 characters available, any EP earned by a character is only significant for that character. But when there are other characters sharing a bench seat with a character, they share their EP with each other as well.
Plus, different characters mean different formation abilities. Different ways to provide buffs and fit into a formation. Like in seat 2 for some examples: The default character, Jim, provides a buff for all characters in the same vertical row as him. Pam (Princess' Pool Party, January event year 1) provides a row buff specifically when it's just her and one other character in the row. Veronica (Dr. Evil's Summer Sabotage, August event, year 1) provides a row buff AND an adjacent buff AND she has a projectile attack that deals extra damage beyond normal team DPS. Arachnobuddy (Superhero Spring, April event, year 2) doesn't provide a buff like the others but his projectile attack can fire multiple shots (based on quality of one of his pieces of gear) and these shots can stun the targets that they hit.
You'll push through the game's slow start eventually.
Remember to make use of that green button in the bottom right corner of the screen to buy as many character levels as possible before every reset since the idols earned are derived from total character levels.
When you can start getting into different tiers of the talents you'll see some major boosts in idol income. (There's one in T2 that reduces how many character levels are required for each idol. There's one in T3 that applies a multiplier based on how many areas you get through (the description will state it per 100 areas but in actual practice there is a small gain per each 1 area), and another in T3 that raises the maximum character level (every tier after this will also have something for max character level). There's one in T4 that applies a multiplier that scales up the longer you've been in the run. T5 has one that just multiplies your idols unconditionally.)
There will be other idol boosters later, as well.
Sir mujolstopho,
You speak the truth - this game has evolved at a frightening pace....
Underpinning everything in this game is How many Idols per run/day/week/etc can be produced and every other advantage flows from this...
More Hints:
1.
Event 1 aim to recruit every T1 Crusader, Event 2 Aim for every T2 Crusader, Event 3 Aim for the T3 Crusader - Bench Unlock !, Event 4/5 - You hit the big Time, Event 6 - recruit T5 Crusader and you are laughing.... [/truth]
(and don't forget to respect to unlock the next level if necessary....)
2.
First Bench Unlock increases Idols by 5.0% [(21-20)/20*100].
Second Bench Unlock increases Idols by 4.7% [(22-21)/21*100]
Third Bench Unlock... (you get the picture).
3.
Play every single Tuesday Challenge.
4.
Missions for 'EP' generate permanent DPS gains; first use the strongest DPS or Global boost Crusaders that you have, then any Crusader that sits in the Bench of your Best Crusaders.

Acquire as many TaskMasters as early as possible. The most important Crusader in all of CotLI is Mindy and if She has not been recruited yet then the DLC is a gift beyond description.
8.
Ditto for Billy in the DLC store.

If I wrote a guide do you think this would help you?
(If yes then I will not sleep for a week but I would be
I'll keep playing if it's a little better in a few weeks.
Thanks again for your advices :)
Yeah a guide might help but don't get sleep deprived for me xD
How often are new crusaders unlockable ?
Answer:
1. Every 3 weeks: 2x Tier 1, 2x Tier 2, 1x Tier 3, 1x Tier 4, 1x Tier 5 for a total of 7 (Seven !)
2. Every 2 weeks of so there is a recruit Mission.
In summary then for every 3 months: 32 Crusaders.... So the first 6 months of playing generate Exponential advancement; you just have to squeeze past the debut....
