Controller Bindings FAQ
How do I activate snap turning?
Start the game and enter a level. Hold both inventory buttons until the in game menu appears. Make sure "Stick Turning" is turned on (a yellow circle around the knob indicates it is turned on).

How do I activate smooth turning?
Start off by activating snap turning as described above. Then, in the in game menu, press the "Mutators" button, find the "Smooth Turning" option and set it at your desired level.

How do I activate smooth locomotion?
Start the game and enter a level. Hold both inventory buttons until the in game menu appears. Then, in the in game menu, press the "Mutators" button, find the "Smooth Locomotion" option and set it at your desired level.

I want to change my controller bindings, but SteamVR's binding ui isn't working
Unfortunately, SteamVR's binding ui doesn't work properly on the current version of Budget Cuts. But there is a workaround:

1. Right click on Budget Cuts in your Steam library and select "Properties".
2. Go to "BETAS" and select "fix_controller_bindings" in the drop down menu. This will install an older version of Budget Cuts. Wait until the download is complete.
3. Restart SteamVR.
4. In SteamVR click "Settings", head to "Controllers" and click "SHOW OLD BINDING UI" and find Budget Cuts among your apps.
5 As long as you have the "fix_controller_bindings" version of Budget Cuts installed, you should now be able to modify your controller bindings freely using SteamVR's binding ui.
6. When you're done configuring your bindings head back to Steam and right click Budget Cuts again and head to Properties->BETAS. This time select "None" in the drop down menu to reinstall the current version of Budget Cuts.

The game should work according to your current binding settings now. If you want to make changes again, repeat step 1 through 6.


Actually, we managed to fix this! SteamVR's controller binding ui should work as intendet as long as your Budget Cuts app is up to date.

A small disclaimer about the controller bindings fix: old versions of the game (such as the pre-arcade beta branch and the demo branch) will no longer work. We need to prioritize future-proofing the game, as new hardware gets released which we might not be able to get or prioritize getting, we still want players to be able to make new controller mappings that enable the game to work.
