Poor management and SJW storyline
2K and gearbox are money hungry and in return just hand out polished turds
Not only that, but you failed to make a BR gamemode at all and instead made a watered-down battle royale/rougelike/randomizer soup that throws away everything in the Borderlands formula just so you can get the obligatory amount of trends in!
Look, again, I'm absolutely not saying that you need to give us a sign you need help if the marketing executives are threatening to kidnap your family over this stuff (I'm absolutely saying you need to give us a sign you need help.), but there were so many better things you could've done here! Optimizing, more actual content and worthwhile expansions! What about those new playable vault hunters you guys apparently talked about before the game came out? BL2 and BLTPS both had additional members of the roster by now, we're stuck with the original four here and they've just got paid premium skill trees instead! (By the way, paid premium skill trees are also something I'm assuming the marketing executives forced you to do at gunpoint.)
Really, please, I'm begging you. Give us some new story content, give us some new weapons, do balance revisions, optimize the game for a better running experience, let the DAHL Grinder from TPS make a return! Add some kind of workbench that lets us mix-and-match gun parts so we can make our dream weapons, add new vault hunters, preferably that one Loaderbot concept people kept throwing around...It's really not hard to get people to believe in this game again, Borderlands was a great series, three can still turn out to be a decent game!...The only issue right now is you're pulling it in the OPPOSITE direction!
So, really, please, if the marketing executives have you guys held at gunpoint and you're being forced to do this involuntarily, place a badass Maliwan trooper aboard Sanctuary III, paint him barbie pink, have him wear a pink tutu, and make sure he's shouting "WE'RE BEING HELD AGAINST OUR WILL BY THE CORPORATE OVERLORDS!", we'll find a way to break you out of the offices.
Otherwise?...Your game is your game, carry on and do what you will!
That is one of the best and most realistic posts I have ever seen! *thumbs up*
Does BL3 with just gunplay sound fun to anyone?
If there a BL3 inventory editor, it better support the Arms Race content, I think most people are going to end up cheating it in as there won't reasonable legit ways to get it, especially as someone who plays solo and focuses on overpowered builds (which without a skill tree, aren't possible, of course, which takes away the entire point of a fair and fun challenge in favor of trying to "balance" overpowered builds by just, removing your powers.)
PS: While I can sorta buy Salv getting into echo Streaming, it is really against Axton's personality by a wide margin. Granted he was a pretty flat character, all the playable "soldier"
classes in the borderlands series are, but if he logs were anything to go by, he was seem like the kind of person to get into blood sports.
But I guess Gearbox needed some way to re-add these characters into the game huh? Salv, as the famously OP character he is, deserves better than this.
Name another game/gamefranchise with a gun system that supports literally billions of different items, I'll wait :)
Why do I bring this up? Because THIS is the real uniqe part of the series and not the skill trees.
Control, Destiny, Deus Ex, Far Cry, Skyrim, Payday 2, Quantum Break, the new Tomb Raider trilogy, basically every Tom Clancy game, Hades, Vermintide II,...
These ALL have skill trees, so no, skill trees are not unique to Borderlands...
Btw, it's not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Battle Royale
Definition of Battle Royale (wikipedia):
"A battle royale game is an online multiplayer video game genre that blends the survival, exploration, and scavenging elements of a survival game with last-man-standing gameplay. Battle royale games involve dozens to hundreds of players"
Now show me where the "dozens to hundreds" players in Arms Race???
Traditional Battle Royale formula:
1. Drop in.
2. Get loot.
3. Attempt to extract or be the last one standing.
4. Encroaching hazard/storm/mist/etc that kills the player if player doesn't go towards center of area.
5.Fight players or NPC enemies which attempt to stop the player from completing #3.
Arms Race formula:
1. Drop in.
2. Get loot.
3. Attempt to extract (Get your loot out) or be the last one standing (Beat the final enemy)
4. Encroaching hazard/storm/etc that kills the player if player doesn't go towards center of area.
5. Fight NPC enemies which attempt to stop the player from completing #3.
It's a battle royale.
