Cooperative vs. Coopetition
Just looking for advice on which to pick for a newcomer. Are there loot advantages to one of these over the other when playing with 2-4 people at the same level?

Cooperation is recommended when playing solo mode as you really won't share loot with other players. It's also recommended for online multiplayer so players you're in a match with won't be able to steal or hog any of the loot.

In Cooperation Group Mode, you're not level locked when it comes to multiplayer. You can play with anyone of any level at any time. However, take note that matches are locked to the level of the player who is hosting.

In Coopetition, loot is shared between all players in the same match. They are free to see what kind of loot has dropped and also free to pick whichever they want. Therefore, coordination & communication is key.

Coopetition mode doesn’t balance the playing field, so lower level players will have to contend with tougher enemies.

Dude it’s simple….Cooperative mode is by far the best way to play and probably the best of any game I’ve seen to date. It was one of the best upgrades from 2

If playing single use cooperation any loot not picked up by you also goes into the machine at sanctuary where you can collect it whereas in cooperative it does not, but final decision is up to you if you play with others its best to share the loot as it was in BL2, but generally it was first in best dressed if you don't have good players with you, who are greedy and dont allow others to pickup the loot.

No real reason to play competition unless want to fight over loot with friends.

Cooperation enabled the lost loot machine and individual loot for each player at their level.

OK, I didn't know about the lost loot machine. Thanks

Cooperative in every situation.

The other just wastes tons of time, causes arguments and leaves you open to ninja looting. Even with your friends someone is always going to start acting the fool and loot everything in sight for a laugh when they are getting bored or tired... wasting more time.

Your friends can still give you stuff in cooperative if they find something they know you are looking for.
