Helldivers does work in those aspects but we have to limit the viewable area between 5/4 and 16/9, since otherwise it interferes with the levels. :)
It would definitely interfere with the gameplay if one player could see further than the rest. For all I know enemy patrols might spawn just outside the viewable area of the 16:9 players, as that would be the format the gameplay is designed around.
Please and if you add it, I will send you a cosmic poney to destroy every bugs of the universe :)
Perhaps they could use the space for UI?
Balance when we are talking a PVE game is non sense.
If its a PVP Game then yes, but on the other Hand it is your own fault for using old Hardware. 21:9 is a bettter gaming experiance and it is just plain SAD if Games from the 90s support the resolution and aspect ration BUT games from 2015 do not.
If you design games that way you failed at your Job. Plain simple.
They already said it would support 21:9, but the field of view wouldn't be larger than 16:9. So what's the problem?
Diablo 3 work in 21:9.
95% of games have 21:9 support, even games released 10 years ago.
The other formats are very common and 21: 9 is becoming increasingly common.
There is no excuse that a game does not support it today, apart from that developers do not want to do effort.
For me now it's simple. My resolution is not supported? I do not buy. That's all.
They did an effort, they added damn black bars to constraint us on 16/9 ... Like in magicka 2 whereas the first one supported 21/9 perfectly ...
