Diffrence is, most game hacks ruin a single game and returns to normal when the hacker leaves. A hacker giving you research points can ruin your playthrough for the entire life-span of the game.

guys, all games have bugs and people that will exploit them, but this is no reason to accept such behavior, if you found someone cheating in game report that person to the devs. case closed.
