You can turn it off and play the game how it was originally designed.
By this the mouse cursor will only appear while aiming with RMB,
but fully visible, in front of the direction your character is heading
instead of where you left your cursor.
I do prefer it the original way and could not blame it for any wrong shot.
this is better especially during multiplayer runs/chaos
I think the cursor should just be a tad more visible in some way. It's really close, but it's just too dark to see for people with poor eyesight such as myself. They don't need to make the white crosshair show all the time.
Personally I find that method really disorientating, even more so than barely being able to see my cursor, because I can at least sometimes manage to keep track of it mentally.
It isn't poor eyesight. Anyone claiming he can keep track of it permanently is a machine or a liar.
This is what the dev posted before it was added and people started demanding it:
(see link in my previous post for discussion, page2)
"Hey guys. I'm Johan Pilestedt, game director of Helldivers and we are closely watching this conversation.
We were uncertain what the PC-community would feel about the crosshair. We initially had it on screen at all times with aiming making the helldiver facing it. This proved to make snapshots and accurate fire very easy, outmatching the controller.
Our solution was to steal your crosshair, and initially we were sceptical about the way it felt, but after some playtesting it felt more natural to us.
We might correct this next week if y'all just believe it's frustrating. (Enjoyment > balance).
Thanks for playing BTW, I really appreciate all the great reviews and upvotes. Keep on spreading democracy."
So they gave this option to the player by default but tried to balance it so it doesnt outmtach
the controller. To me this shows more that some limitations are necessary to keep the game mechanics functional and balanced. I'm pretty sure that the posts criticising this would be replaced by posts criticising how easy the game is..
It takes some time to get used to, it did even for the devs.
Maybe give it another chance and some time and you will get there.
I did and many others too.
Just don't expect to aim perfectly where you want to at any given time.
You wouldn't be able to do this with a controller either.
This game lives by some sort of chaos and some degree of inaccuracy.
I'm fairly experienced by now and still can't avoid to drop a bomb on my teammates once in a while because I get pushed to the ground while throwing it.
Have a good laugh about it. That's what it's all about.
Thank you for letting me know about this option, it saved my entire gaming experience! Now when I aim, the mouse finally appears where I expected. For me, the default option is really a nightmare.
