Have you ever been stalked by someone on the internet before? It is not pleasant to have the same hurtful word/action thrown in your direction for years.
Would you rather be in a community that doesn't condone that kind of behavior instead of having rude/snipe/other behavior typical/ubiquitous in a community?
That was my experience with Paradox Community for many years, and I gave up on them a while ago. Leaving the Paradox Community was the best thing I could have done for my sanity.
People have in the past accused me of being everything from an Idiot to Unhinged to other unmentionable terms. I should go to see a psychiatrist to be diagnosed with something because a Stranger who doesn't know the whole story told me to do so?
Now that is being disingenuous because you haven't experienced what I DID indeed experience for years. Imagine being the designated driver of a car full of kids screaming at you for hours at a time for years. Then only you can start to come close to what I felt like being on Paradox Forum.
The catch-22 is that I care about Paradox video games, and I want to provide constructive criticism feedback. There is ONLY one place on the internet to do it: the Paradox Forum, where the rude people are. So I have to either put up with it or stop playing Paradox Games because I can't feel like they are fun or going in a direction I don't want them to.
@Future Boomer: You see how a random Stranger on the internet prematurely declaring me as a Schizophrenia person comment hurts me, right? Emotionally-wise?
in a perfect world if 50 people are having fun bantering on the internet, posting pepe frogs, edgy memes or whatever and 1 person comes in and says "hey, this situation i could avoid is making me upset, you need to stop what you are doing to cater to my feelings" that 1 person would then be rightfully told to leave
people this fragile should not be on the internet bothering normal people, period
It still doesn't address the problem of posting constructive feedback in an uncomfortable community. It is the community's issue as it is not humanly possible to have a community where there aren't any problematic individuals.
This has the chilling effect of silencing people whose opinions aren't as popular or mainstream. To put it simply, who would want to post something with a high chance of being bullied?
I suggest people read the thread talking about the Paradox terms of Conduct change on the Paradox Board. Paradox Staff admitted that they have a community-wide problem, and people leave because of it.
I am not alone in my sentiment either, and you can see a few people here in this thread and elsewhere, other than Steam and Paradox Board, echoing my sentiments.
Just out of curiosity, who is fragile in this situation? I am only asking because I had thick enough skin to shrug off the allegation of being a Schizophrenia Individual and then moved on.
I am calling out toxic behavior.
Then not insult others or get too upset because of thick skin over it.
Those two things are not mutually exclusive.
Not taking responsibility, I see.
Ummmmmmmmmmmm Not sure what to think about you.
Clearly you didnt leave the community. Because you are literally posting in a discussion with the Paradox Community.
Nice try though :)
RIGHT!!!!
This is literally a game where you can play as Hitler and kill jews. So im not sure why we cant talk about in discord.
Oh, you are one of those people who like a smart joke.
I left the Paradox Community and Forum.
This is a forum/community that is owned and operated by Steam that happens to cater to those who are Paradox fans.
