How to fix access error to game data hoi4

I do not know if this is an obvious problem to fix but I have no idea how to fix it. As I was loading up the HOI IV launcher, a pop-up asked if I wanted to grant HOI IV to my files. I wasn't really thinking so I clicked "don't allow" because I thought it would search my computer or something. This turned out to be a big mistake as I can't do anything with HOI IV besides launch the launcher. The first I get is "access error to game data". If you need more specifics just tell me, I'm really not good at this sort of this so any help if appreciated.

If you are using windows:

Right-click on HOI4 in leftside list in your library and select manage and there select browse local files.

In the window that pops up locate the hoi4.exe file and right-click it and select properties.

In the properties window select the security tab.

Here both 'ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES' and 'ALL RESTRICTED APPLICATION PACKAGES' groups should have both 'Read & Execute' and 'Read' permissions allowed. If they are denied, then edit them to allow.
