game executable is invalid

ive repeatedly validated my files, ive tried deleting and redownloading the exe, what could be causing this issue? supposedly everyone else is running this game just fine on linux, but mine gives me this error thats apparently so rare only one person before has had it

I can give you the PC fix. By going into your game files and deleting everything within it, then uninstalling the game, and reinstalling it as a fresh slate. If it works for fixing broken game versions it should work with fixing executable errors.

I'm looking. Here's a third option:
"1. Completely exit Steam.
2. Navigate to your Steam installation folder (~C:\Program Files\Steam)
3. Delete the 'appcache' folder.
4. Restart your computer and attempt to launch the game through Steam"

nope, after i do that i open steam back up, it takes a long while to start, then i try and open hearts of iron, it gets to the launcher and the launcher immediately has the red triangle saying executable is invalid

i dont know what could be causing this apparently incredibly rare bug, the message on it is certainly unhelpfull unfortunately

Perhaps your antivirus is thinking that the launcher is malicious software. Check your antivirus settings.

i dont have an antivirus, im on linux

Well my knowledge of OS's is fairly limited to Windows. I wish you the best of luck at this point and hope someone from this community can figure it out.
