Hearts of Iron 4 not responding

I have this problem with hoi4 where when i press play in steam it opens the game luncher then when i press play in the game luncher, sometimes my mouse turns into a working pocket watch where i can see the seconds moving. I can move the mouse around but cant press on anything in the background, i press windows key then the mouse goes back to normal there i press on the hoi4 icon then my screen turns all black, seconds later it turns white and windows respond to me with a box saing that hoi4 is not reponding.

If anyone knows how to deal with it please help!

Stuff can take a long time in hoi4, where it looks like it's crashing, but actually is still grinding. You could try giving it several minutes. You could also try to start it from alternate locations, like the hoi4.exe. You could bypass the Steam client (maybe by doing this), and try a cleaner launch. I've not a clue how that would effect MP.

Is your computer up to the minimum specs?

I don't know which of the following worked for me but its working now

- Open NVidia Settings
- Select "Set up G-SYNC, unticked box "Enable G-SYNC"
- Select "Adjust desktop size and position" under "Scaling" Tab select "No Scaling"
- Under the HOI Launcher Settings selected Display Mode: Borderless"

I found a way, just go to the settings in the luncher and make the game borderless

here is the weird thing now in settings it says borderless but when i play the game its accually full screen

It's normal, borderless, as the name suggests, is a fullscreen window, without border. The only real difference is that in borderless mode your GPU has more workload. If you want play in fullscreen go to HOI4 folder, right click Hoi4 exe, compatibility and check "Disable Fullscreen Optimizations".
