How to use the map ping feature?

Is there any way for friends to "ping" the map to show an important feature or strategy with friends in the game? Do we have to be in a federation/alliance for all to see? Helping a newish player to play the game. All the best!

At the right bottom on screen should be mini map with attack/defend option so You can choose them and click on map to ping something, only Your Allies can see.

You can also press Ctrl Alt for defend and Ctrl Alt Shift for attack
