It also upgrades the reactor the project is completed in.

Does it provide the same production rate for nukes as a standard reactor?

Civilian nuclear reactor gives following state bonuses;
+15% Build Speed
+15% Max Factories (Won't increase slots past the max 25)
+10% Raw Resources
Faster Nuke and Thermo nuke production.

Highly recommended to get these babies up as soon as possible on your resource states.

Each commercial reactor built
Increases party popularity by 5%,
+50 Political power
+15% construction speed
+15% factories (may get a slot after building.
+10 Resources
Provides nukes (patch fixed it)

I built a bunch as Brazil in South America and it solved my steel shortages I normally encountered.

Holy crap, those also give PP and governing party popularity?
I didn't notice that, aside from the bonus we get from the research event.

Yeah the tooltips kinda suck at pointing that out. Although late game party popularity aint usually a problem, and political power is semi-useful depending upon if the country you are playing has a use for it.

Yeah I had some helacious ones in my Brazil game yesterday. Take some of those high resource areas and toss in a reactor and it makes a huge difference. The sad part is they are NEEDED badly for the long games (past 1950.) I think the submarines were using like 35 fuel each, multiplied by 80 subs.....which still does not include the strategic bombers you need and the 4-5 wings of air coverage to reduce chance of raids on important targets.

The newer units and engines consume so much more fuel, well at least until you can build nuclear subs, carriers, and battleships.
