Should I buy this game?

I watched cool videos on yt and it looked interesting so I'm thinking of buying it. However all the money I have is just enough to get it. Should I?

It's a good game but not perfect. It's not an eu4 style grand strategy, it's a ww2 wargame, it's deep on the military aspect but lackluster in diplomacy, economy and world building

It can be very difficult at first, it is very deep in certain parts, but if you are interested in the game you will love it, it is a game worth it if you like the genre

HOI4 is two games in one; The first game is a large scale military strategy game set during WW2, the second game is a focus completion simulator that reward players with restorations of empires or Communist uprisings for pressing big buttons every 10 weeks. Unfortunately, it is THIS second part of the community that does most of the content creation, which has influenced the Decision making and design choices at Paradox over the years.

This game has incredible potential as a strategy simulator, however it is being pulled quite heavily in the opposite direction. Many features youd expect to find AS a strategy game are either very simple or missing altogether, as Paradox chooses instead to prioritize content for nations on the world map that 1% of the community play in their updates and DLCs

Honestly, these days I would not. The vanilla game sucks, the DLCs have started dropping like a rock in terms of quality again, Paradox has managed to get shadier. The game's still fun with mods but I wouldn't buy a game off that alone.

all 3 free dlcs came along with starter edition. as such it has practically same price as the standard

what PC specs do you have? If you don’t have a PC with components worth like £2000, it’s not worth it. The game is extremely inefficiently coded and built, and so runs slow. The Youtubers you watch often have top, top, top spec PC’s, and they acknowledge the game slows down even for them in the later years.

You can buy the whole collection for far cheaper on some key selling sites. Often times on the lowest price the game has ever been.
