That's correct, no one is forcing me to buy more DLC. That's why I will not do so again unless they give me a damn good reason to.

You're confused. The product is HOI4. This would include future additions. This is the attitude I think that devs have which gamers don't share. Hence why across the industry you see outrage over the rise of the DLCs to "complete" the product

Eh, I like it better when companies try to earn their money, rather than halfassing a job and then selling you the pieces to complete it. If it's a DLC that adds cool content that actually builds on the foundation then I'm happy to buy it. If it's content that they deliberately withheld so that they could sell it back later or stuff they should have patched in for free when they had the time to actually flesh out the project then I get annoyed. If I buy a game I would like the core experience to be feature complete.

Since when got this forum so frustrated-toxic-aggressive? Quite a number of players write in approximately 20 threads how sinister Paradox and oh how terrible unfair their products are prized, further more judging the new DLC as bad, superfluous, outrageous, you name it, even Hoi4 a bad game altogether. And much much more.

Look, I can understand emotional crisis as much as the next guy. But I am not a teenager and I have a job. 25 bucks I spend every evening when I go out and meet friends. I would not loose a sweat about some bucks, I simply don’t care. And I have no time time to write about “agony” and “hurt feelings” and the lot when it comes to Petitesse.

Three focus trees (some of which are of procedural kind so these could be used by more countries) + some flavour events is a thing a student can assemble.
And the overall quality of the DLC packing these focus trees is so low so at least one of that DLC specific achievements - Brazilian one - is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insult. And an insult not only to venerable people of modern Brazil.

I can't imagine a sentient human which can also be a consumer for this type of goods of this low quality.

I don't mind them giving away the 1st 3 DLC's. I would however think an extra discount for the new DLC's for people who already bought these would be a nice gesture. But perhaps they did something? I haven't kept up with this game recently.

At first I didn't really mind this move. I thought: "well, that sucks for people who already bought that game, but who cares?" But the more I thought about it, the more I realized this was a horrible decision on Paradox's part, and the angrier I got about it.

Some people are trying to defend Paradox saying: "oh, it's common practice to make old games free." and "This is really nice of Paradox, stop complaining." -yeah that's not it at all.

First of all, Hoi4 is still the current game in it's series. Did I miss the announcement for Hoi5? Hoi4 even still gets updates and has supported multiplayer - it is an active game. And they didn't make the game free, they made "DLCs" free, DLCs that 1. should have been part of the base game, and 2. were overpriced, definitely not worth what they charged for them. DLCs for country's that they absolutely will redo in the future (or at least they should update these countries that played major parts in WWII) and charge too much for. These "new" DLC will not be able to exist without the 3 "predecessor" DLCs (the ones that are now free) and will require mechanics that long-time fans paid for, but that new players are getting free as part of the base game. So those long-time fans are gonna have to pay for the same mechanics twice - actually not even just long-time fans, anyone who paid for those 3 DLC even just 1 day before becoming free.

Next this is NOT really nice of Paradox. Well - it depends on who you are talking about. Nice to new players - sure. Nice to previous customers, to the people who bought their overpriced DLCs so that they could have the money to get to the point of offering 3 DLC for free - no. If they really wanted to "Thank us for our Service" they would give something to the people who bought the now-free DLCs. This is just a ploy to sell more DLC after they boxed themselves into a corner trying to fragment their game an charge for each individual piece. And the dev lurking around the thread trying to play damage-control isn't going to hide their scummy business practices or the negative reviews on their latest "country-pack".

Maybe Paradox IS going to compensate loyal patrons - judging by their other decisions I very much doubt it. But hey, maybe they'll surprise everyone - it could happen. And if they do make it right, I will be singing their praises, but until then I have no choice but to call out Paradox for what they are - a greedy company squeezing its customers for every cent they have. A company that bites the hands that feed them and spins their dirty business practices so that you think they are being altruistic. Don't be scammed. Don't be gas-lit. Paradox is not doing the right thing.

I bet you call people a ‘karen’ too when they complain about being treated like sh!t by companies, and don’t even receive the bare minimum, don’t you?

YOU might be happy to be a mindless consumer who is happy to bend over for companies and corporations, but others aren’t. I expect a company to earn my business, and treat me and my money with respect and dignity.

That’s lovely for you if you are happy to give your money to companies who spit in your face and laugh at you while you do it. Well done!

I've got an idea: Create a new free DLC, available ONLY to those that bought TFV, DoD, and WTT (the now-free DLC), that add 3 new division icons 1. a hand in a victory "V" sign (or some other representation of victory/togetherness) 2. A flag (or something else to represent DoD), and 3. A tiger.

It should also add a 3 decisions.
1. called "Together for victory" that when activated adds the national spirit "Together for Victory" that grants extra war support when in a faction or when having puppets of dominion level.
2. called "Death or dishonor" that when activated adds the national spirit "Death or Dishonor" that grants extra defense.
3. called "Wake the Tiger" that when activated adds the national spirit "Awoken Tiger" that grants extra attack.

Maybe also give these players a discount on the next DLCs. Or if the countries covered by these DLC get updated in a future country-pack, give us those new country packs for free or at a discount.
