Supply in allied territory
How is it determined if I get supply within allied territories? If I play germany it sometimes seem absolutely random to me if my troops are supplied while relying on italian supply hubs. Sometimes they are and sometimes they are not, even though all parameters I can think off (port access, port level, region etc.) are the same, the results seen to vary widely. In different runs my africa corps had very different experiences of being supplied from tobruk. (Even though I gifted Italy 500 convoys just to make sure that isn't an issue).
Even trying to beat back an allied invasion of italy with my german forces fighting in the north of italy - with unobstructed rail lines at their back - I wasn't given any supplied although the italian supply hubs were not hitting their limit at all. It sometimes seems random to me. Is there like a flowchart on how to fix this or how to predict if I will get supplied or not?

Also just to make sure: There is no way to set up convoys manually like it was in older HoI games? Because even though as Germany I have the port of Marseille which seems like a good hub to supply mediterranean campaings, it seems that the AI is just able to set up convoys to mediterranean targets from northern German ports, if Gibralta was taken - which is just illogical.

I am pretty confortable handling supply lines within my own territory, checking capacities and enabling supplying for allies etc., so I do not really think it's a general lack of understanding of the supply system on my side. But on allied territory my experiences just vary so much and I never really know what to expect.

Thank you for any helpul advice.

Posting here because I've seen the same. I've literally built ports in africa for Italy but it still showed my troops as having zero supply. It didn't appear to have ally supply off, and italy had supplies for their troops so it wsan't like the port was an issue. Hoping someone clears this up too

If you have allies with supply and you have none you are missing something.
Most likely you are missing transports, trains, trucks, or convoy/transport access.

That is the best guess that can be given without seeing any actual screenshots of the supply system or basic game information.

For convoy/transport access keep in mind the Mediterranean can get closed off if your faction loses control of Gibraltar and Suez. Which explains why Italy has supply and you do not if there is no connection to the "outside world." Which establishing the connection to the outside world would require owning a shore in the Mediterranean or having ports on the outer coast of Africa in the Atlantic or Indian Ocean (good luck escorting those, lol.)

Try switching the allied supply node to use trucks. I know it can help when allies are using your nodes. If there are two armies in the same area and one is using trucks and one is not, the one not using trucks will cause supply issues for both. Setting the node directly to trucks will treat your allied AI armies as if the are set to trucks.

If you are unable to set the node to use trucks, then set your generals to automatically switch to trucks.

The general/field marshal motorization level can change hub motorization levels for countries you sent volunteers to or only have military access. I found this very useful when sending volunteers to soviet union because the AI will not change the levels and will benefit from you making the change.
