How do you avoid war with Germany as Austro Hungary?

I've attempted to reform the Austro Hungarian empire several times now. And even when everything else goes the way you need it to war with Germany seems unavoidable after you annex Chez. Germany will always demand territory you need to form the empire.

Ive even tried joining the Axis before this happens but they still demand. If your refuse they boot you from the faction and declare war anyway.

So, whats the strategy here?

If you're playing Hungary you can use spies to get a non-aggression pact to buy time before they can declare war after you puppet Austria and the Czechs.

As Austria you can do the path to puppet everyone to defend against Germany (and if you're good you can use their troops to win quickly), otherwise completing the shared focus tree will allow you to form Austria-Hungary.

Germany will only demand the Sudetenland so if you do give it up they will leave you alone but you can just stab them in the back later on when you're done conquering Romania and Yugoslavia and they're distracted from whatever.

Edit: Tested this with Austria and Germany still has a wargoal after giving up the Sudentenland so I think that's a bug

I've been attempting as Hungary. But i'll try the back stab strategy next thanks

just too difficult. Cool options to recreate everything but if you ever go to war then Germany will attack you. Even if you get attacked Germany will attack you. I didnt even take the Czechs and still German attacked me. Germany didnt even go for poland in any run I did. They just ran straight for me so paradox has a bug.

strategy is playing non-historical, setting custom rules, lock every country to historical path, except germany, leave it default, it has %10 chance to oppose hitler and go civil war, at first 70days .when that happens, non-aligned germany always going to win quickly. they wont demand anything without hitler. they just cant. then you can form austria-hungary by boosting non-aligned ideology on czechs. keep austrian and czech %50+ non-aligned. even if you dont do anything, germany will do press austria-hungary claim focus eventually, giving non-aligned boost spirits to austria,czechs and hungary and you can form it with enough non-aligned support

harder version,if you want to do it against hitler, you form austria-hungary earlier and by force. and nothing to do but dig in alps to carpathians, lv4 forts on every tile. germany will come, its inevitable.
but it ll be significantly weaker germany, weak enough you to capitulate them around 1941, with a bit allied and soviet help. its not hard. just build lotta fighters. thats what will hold your lines. germany will pound on your lines hard and you ll see it ll start to lose div strength after few months. it wont simply have enough production to keep troops well armed. also since war will start early on, germans wont have lotta divs or manpower neither.

rest is easy, walk to rome and berlin. you can do this with 2 good armies 2 fodder armies holding one side while good armies either push to italy or germany first.
