Italy invades Romania and Britain Declares War 0ct 1 1937
I have been playing this game awhile and I tend to play Italy most of all. Tonight I used my crystal ball(historical focus) to slice territory from Yugoslavia then invade Greece. I also declared war on Bulgaria(ostensibly since Romania declares war when I hit Greece and they would not let me pass through) and declared on Turkey as well(this was just because the Duce willed it, of course!). All is proceeding well, my armies crushed Greece and Bulgaria and while my old Field Marshall De Bono holds the line against Turkey I send about 48 divisions into Romania. Then something happens that never happened to me before-Romania suddenly is allowed to join the Allies on Oct 1 1937(before France?) and then the Brits declare war on me. In real life I would understand it but after maybe 10 or so playthroughs I never saw this happen before. Is it because World tension was 50 this time and it is not normally that high?
This particular game I waited later than normal--around July 6--the day before the Marco Polo Bridge Incident that my psychics predicted. I had mobilzed my entire army at the Yugo border to browbeat them into giving me Dalmatia, Montenegro and becoming my satellite and that delayed the start of the Greek war. Is the problem that world tension was not staying below 50 before I polished off Romania--because I waited to long to start the war? Or is it that the AI is just showing some common sense for a change and not letting me crush a third of Europe while the major powers just sit on their hands?
If I appoint the Duce's son in law Ciano as my Foreign Minister could that help prevent this turn of events? Or is it that I should try to finish all my wars before October 1937 unless I want a full World War to start? Thanks for any insight that you may have!

romania is guaranteed by french and czech by default but also france has another focus that gives another guarantee on yugoslavia and romania. it will stay until germans capitulate france, means until 40.

romania is also by default is a non-aligned country until soviet war. they can flip facist any second yes but often AI waits for barborassa in historical. becase of axis influence national spirit.

yugoslavia too is a non-aligned country in historical and always join allies once germans attack them. then starts the long stand off on balkans once USA sends millions of troops to help allies.

have i said bulgaria non aligned too? guaranteed by turkey.

i think you started to see balkan mess in this game. if you want a piece from balkans or scandinavia then you need to play "exploiting the diplomacy" game.

non-aligned and democratic countries can also receive guarantees by democratic countries (allies in this case), if you generated more than %10 world tension. i believe attacking greece+bulgaria too early provided that. you re public enemy no1 now.

i have a workaround of this, i send all ships to a german port on 1st day of run before gibraltar closes, create good 48 divs and naval invade Uk first of first , as early as possible (depends on ideology and world tension). before doing anything else. end Allies then everything remaining is free estate.

(i so hate allies, bane of most achievement runs, even reading what i wrote gives me headache let alone doing in game.)

Hello.

You have seized soverign Yugoslavian land and forced a change in Government. You then also declared war on 3 different nations in the span of 6 months. Do you really think you can get away with all of this without consequence? Of course Romania joined the Allies.

You have two options; FIRST you can slow your conquests down to a reasonable pace. I play Italy as well with 3500 hrs; you can have everything you said here before 1940 no problem.

SECOND, you can cheese the game mechanics and try to get away with an unreasonable amount of conquest early in the game and risk WW2 breaking out.

War with Bulgaria is a mistake. War with Turkey is a mistake.

Romania wont be such an issue if you used Diplomacy more often instead of war. Pull Austria into your Faction. Pull Hungary into your faction. Pull Bulgaria into your faction. Pacify Yugoslavia. THEN the only war you need to fight is against Romania and Greece. Surround them. Isolate them.
