In Victoria II, plus it's DLC, i do not experience a lag with the game. So why can't Paradox just stick with what works, instead they put in a lot of crap ( bells and whistles). just my opinion...
Victoria 3 will tell you what Paradox is going to do with each and every one of their future games.

HOI4 is good game, but very limited on what it can handle, late games, or modern days mods are showing this limitations very offten. However I would guess we can expect 2-5 years of DLC's before new game will be even announced. But hey, ♥♥♥♥ HOI because new Victoria is coming soon.

In my opinion the base game gets boring because of balancing and trying to keep it historical.

This limits who you can play as and how strong they can become. The fact that you can't core land to make yourself more powerful contributes to this.

What I would like to see instead of more DLC focused on the current game is alternative universe/timeline DLC's.

I like Old World Blues because you can core land. So you can start small and become just as powerful as the bigger nations. This leads to more replayability because you can make almost any faction a superpower.

Kaiserreich is also good but it falls into the same trap as the base game. Trying to maintain balance and doing so with long focus trees that just keep you busy until war breaks out. I quit a lot of games in both the main game and Kaiserreich because of being railroaded down busy-work focus trees that keep you occupied twiddling your thumbs.

Let's just say for fun that Hoi4 when it's finished, will be the most remarkable game, the most ingenious, the most accurate game that touches on World War II, the best-selling game, the ultimate game. All players of strategic game want this game.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the philosophy that this company has for Hoi5.

(dialogue of the future creator of hoi5).

1- Ok we believe we could upgrade hoi4 and create Hoi5.

2- Do you think we should just recreate hoi 4 with better graphics.

3- But the problem is that we could make a lot more money if we removed several game mechanics and resold them afterwards at the maximum price.

4- Yes it's a similar basic game with better graphics and subtracted from several game mechanics that we will resell at a high price.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So Hoi5 will be like hoi4 in the beginning depriving of several game mechanics which will be resold at high prices in order to make as much money as possible on the poor players who can't help but overconsume this perfect new game.

You see how the creation of (Heart Of Iron) works.

All those who buy Hoi 5 will have to go through the same process again and pay superficial sums and buy game mechanics that should have been there at the very beginning of its creation.

And that's how you make the most money possible in the creation of a new game.

So (Hoi 5,6,7,8,9,****) will be designed in the same way. Exploit the players to the maximum possible and make the maximum possible profit.
At best we can get this and it will have the CKIII treatment at worse it will be like Victoria III and the most core features of any game will be removed all while boot lickers will make any excuse to praise the game.

Only reason for another hoi 5 if they actual make it more interesting then dumbing it down like how it is now
HOI5 where the game can handle more than 200 divisions without taking 5 minutes to go through 1 day

need a new engine yep, pretty sure they didn't expect hoi4 to boom in popularity unlike hoi3, chances are we are going to suffer with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ engine gor at least another 3 years

I wouldn't either, as this game is broken. The lag makes this unplayable, and people want a new game.

Because new game engine is the only way to remove that lag...

Any reason you expect HOI 5 to be "a really nice working" out of the box? Paradox don't have a good track record for that.
Because HOI4 was far better 5 years ago than it's now. Removing all the stupid minigames would be a huge improvement

right?

From what you can see in the past, the amount of time the games are alive, keeps raising. My guess on a HoIV would be a tad more time, than from HoI III to HoI IV and that took 7 years, so my guess will be 9 years after release.

HoI IV was released in 2016, so I think HoIV will come out Q4 2025

You have to remember, that it has to suit the other series as well, so next year all the fuss will be about Vicky... Becaue you know.. Everybody wants to date Vicky

If/When they commit to a new HOI I would hope they do one thing before diving into the miore fluff oriented DLC. That being get the core systems and mechanics in place and working pretty solidly, this includes the AI. After you get that then focus on the fluff pieces. And for the love of all that is holy implement some sort of reasonable force limiter, I think the best part of HOI3 was the officer pool.

I really hope HoI5 is runs better than HoI4, or at least make the AI make better decisions such as not spamming a hundred divisions.
