How in the world can British Raj become a major?
I was doing my thing, playing Germany, speedrunning WWII in 1941 after delaying 2 years to get to the peace conference before the USA could join, when I realized after capitulating the UK that the British Raj, a *COLONY of the UK, was somehow a major.

WHAT?
HOW?
IN WHAT WORLD DOES IT MAKE SENSE THAT A *COLONY BEING A MAJOR CAN PREVENT THE WAR FROM ENDING?!?

Now my only choices are to naval invade Africa (lost all holdings on africa because i didnt focus on it) and then naval invade India WHILE STILL AT WAR WITH FRANCE, BRITAIN, AND THE US, or I can fight my way through Turkey and Iran to break into Pakistan.

After checking the country information, I found that they had PRECISELY 50 factories (including 1 naval dockyard).

i mean, i was just confused as to why it was the raj being a major that prevented them from ending the war. like, it should be literally impossible for the raj to become a major, yet of all games for them to be a major, it's this one.

yeah, i know them having 50 factories makes them a major, but usually it takes slightly over 50 and some other conditions like that. i mean, i've had games where i've had like 72 factories and am still a minor power

Happens the same to my game, I was running Byzantine Empire.

Cap Italy, Cap Czech. Then join Axis war on Allied, cap France, and UK after a year. Then suddenly Canada and Raj is now a major. Run all the way to cap Canada and waiting for US to join, cap both. Then Mexico joined allies? No worries, just cap it. Then somehow British Malaya, Australia, Dutch East Indies now are major. I have no choice but to join Japan in its Asia war so I can cap both to end the fking war.

It was almost a world conquest to end the war if you ask me.

This has never happened before, I think the update messes something up.

"at least 35 factories and either is in the top 7 by factory count or has at least 70% as many factories as the top 7 has on average"

So once the Raj has more factories than the UK it becomes a major. AFAIK, the calculation is only made at the end of the month so to avoid problems you need to force capitulation in the same month as you take most of the UK's factories.

Raj always becomes a mayor around mid to late 41. If you want to finish the allies off you gotta do it in 39-40 period.

they became a major by the time i had capitulated france, at the time i was still preparing the naval invasion and hadn't landed on the UK yet

yeah that's my problem, i waited too long to start the war because, i, erm, kinda spent 1936-1937 killing italy, the netherlands, poland, and albania in that order. i had to spend my resources on managing the garrisons for a year before i could start making more divisions, and by the time i had decided to justify on belgium, it was like june of 1940. perhaps i could reload a save from a few months before that, but it would be slightly annoying to redo all of the actions i made for an entire year just to go to war a bit earlier.

also if anyone's questioning why i would do something so blindingly stupid as take out my greatest continental ally and produce 63% world tension in the process, it's because i challenged myself to see if i could form the EU as germany by taking out italy, the low countries, and france before later opposing hitler to temporarily become democratic (from there i'd go communist).

yeah, tested it again, raj becomes a major by february 1941. why the devs let this slip by for presumably years, i have no clue.

i just realized what happens. when france goes into exile, india gets 10 extra factories.

because why not, amirite?

You took out Italy so that was one less major. So when you took out France the Raj must have been in the top 7.

i mean, that doesn't really factor into things, what happened was the raj reached 50 factories and, despite being a colony of the UK, became a major and was able to prevent me from winning after capitulating the UK and France.

oh wait that does factor into things hecc

well, i'll keep that in mind for future games where i take out one major early on into the game
