I didn't sure how I get it, but what I was doing was researching Spain intervention, and joined Spain civil war.
-You aren't USA before 1949
-You aren't Republican spain before 1937
-You aren't at war
-Either your neighbors or your allies are at war
- You have one of 6 laws active
So it can trigger during italy's ethiopian war and during spain civil war.
Either way, I have done so many attempts. Had a couple random ones like a few months of a year later, but they were flukes. Can I delay the election somehow to get chance?
Okay, but beyond the very vague rules for it happening, is there anything specific that is most likely to trigger it relating to either Ethiopian or German wars? Like if they occur in X time before do Y focus, you are more likely to get it?
That's another thing. I tried all Monarchist paths for France in a test save. Why is it that Orleon is the only good leader? I know Napoleon VI isn't the OG Napoleon that kicked ass, but I expected him to have some 'Soldier King' like ♥♥♥♥, similar to King Albrect of the Habsburg Poland focuses has. He has nothing, and you can't even get daily unaligned gain advisers like most nations have. The only good thing about him is you get the recruitable bonus spirit and easy focus wargoals against your nice fat neighbours. Restoring a Napoleon to the French Empire, was a bit of a let-down when I saw his pathetic portrait and no stats.
This event is not linked to France specifically.
You can find all event in the HOI4 folder inside the "events" folder.
They are split by countries and the general one by themselves (for example, there's a "capitualtionEvents.txt)
In your case, the event you are looking for are in the "ElectionsEvents.txt"
This contain all possible event that can happen to a democracy during election.
A few examples:
Public Oppose Rearmament
Public Demands Rearmament
Fascists in Government?
Communists in Government?
Democratic Parties in Minority
Etc....
You can see the conditions for each of them.
The USA and Spain before the civil war are excluded for them (for obvious reasons)
The 6 laws in questions are:
has_idea = low_economic_mobilisation
has_idea = civilian_economy
has_idea = isolation
has_idea = undisturbed_isolation
has_idea = volunteer_only
has_idea = disarmed_nation
In short, you need to be a democratic nation with someone at war that border you or have one of your ally at war (but not be at war yourself)
Your mobilization law (manpower) need to be one of the 2 lowest
Your economy law need to be civilian economy (or undistribed isolation/isolation for the USA)
Because this event is 100% outside of your control as France, you have no way to ensure this happen. The most likely for it to happen is for Italy to take a long time to capitulate Ethiopia (until May 1936)
P.S: French Napoleon biggest advanatge is that you get an early war goal against UK, invade Canada before capitulating the UK and you can get the USA in 1938 easily(you even have time to make 2 collab if you start them asap when you switch Non-aligned).
Just don't worry about the non-align popularity, you can get the stability much easier than through party popularity.
As for doing all that by 38 as France? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH no that's funny as hell. Finland was easier. At least they don't start off as a literal dumpster fire, that then gets duped by a pretender Napoleon.
You can easily beat the UK (and all it's colonies), then the US with your starting army and mils.
I've done it recently when going for the achievement.
I've build nothing but Civ and make only construction and electronic research until I had cap both the Allies and the US. (my goal was to have as many factories as possible for when Germany attack me in 1940)
The only tricky part is to not put your fleet into strike force in the channel too early. Lure some of the royal navy into the western approach with a few subs in convoy raiding.
Once you see less than 120 ships in the channel, put your fleet in strike force and launch your invasion.
If the AI sees your fleet, it will put more ships in the channel and you won't have superiority to launch invasion.
Also, wait for the UK to call it's colonies into the war. If you declare war it raise WT and the USA will join the allies.
