Signal Company
Why would the addition of a signal company to a division REDUCE it's organization. I am seriously struggling to find any justification for this. Is this an actual intentional mechanic or is it somehow flipped? The introduction of radio communication should INCREASE the organizational control of a unit.

Signal companies increase initiative, which gets more units into battle. It's worth it when you have 4 14/4 divisions in a battle instead of 3 or 2, indirectly increasing organization and firepower

Your response does not address my point: Adding a signal company REDUCES organization by 2. I do not believe that is a logical or appropriate mechanic for the addition of a signal company to a division. My question has nothing to do with what a signal company does for initiative but rather it's questionable effect on organization.

Because pretty much all support companies reduce organization unless you have that particular doctrine selection that increases org through support.

Signal companies in this game tell their division when and when to move, not their individual fighting organization.

Signal companies are incredibly useful even with the organization loss. Organization isn't everything in this game. Bringing reinforcement to the battle quickly is worth the measly 2 org.

To be honest I have been using Signal Companies all the time in my every templates and I haven't any problems with it. It's one of the most usefull support company with Scout and Sapers. These are always used, no matter what divisions.

You can always increase organisation with doctrines in research to reduce debuff from Signal Company.

Indirectly it increases organization by adding more troops to the battle, the 2 organization makes zero difference and the advantages outweigh the tiny 2 organizaition

Non technologically complex army would have high organization because of it's simplicity. More organization means the ability to not break in combat. So, for example a infantry force made up of all the same rifles and uniforms could have super high organization because if something breaks, you can just use another rifle. But you can only do so much with a rifle.

The radios are one more thing that can break in combat, the lower org represents that. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

In real life, the USSR had few radios and many came through lend lease. This made runners much more important. In game, think of this as why initiative is lower, much more time to act on commands. But, with out radios distracting tactical leaders, and with less stuff that could break, they could focus more on combat.

Multiple humorous and vigorous defenses of the mechanic offered as well as insight and information. The reduction in organization appears to be as arbitrary and insignificant as my complaint.

"Eh...I see what you are getting at. Being able to communicate coordinated attacks on all fronts is very useful, and would indeed contribute to organization of an army, in or out of combat.

I mean just imagine how many middle age battles would have been won if the front line could communicate to it's reserves that the battle was actually going well and that their push would win them the day instead of them literally leaving the battlefield. xD" I enjoyed your humor and, if I understood properly, sarcasm.

By that logic the ability to speak would have reduced organization.....and the use of signal flags and their probability of breaking would also. It is an unnecessary "balancing" mechanic that does nothing but add value to doctrine research. But it does do that. In particular the reduction of organization from adding a signal company makes little sense otherwise; but it is what it is and ultimately perhaps having to always sacrifice to gain is better than my nit picking. :)

For balance purpose i guess, it still a game in the end, some stuff need to be balance around the game mechanic.

Smoke a peace pipe. Amazing what kind of signals you can make...
