Is CAS or TAC better for this type of mission?

Ground attack so Cas are optimal I believe, Tac if you need the range.

Gotcha. I'd hoped that TACs would finally get their chance to shine with logistics strikes, but I guess they are the bottom of the barrel once again xD

It depends. Tactical bombers offer you greater mission efficiency if far from the targeted air region or if it's really large. They also open the possibility of hitting enemy trains behind the frontlines and they can piggyback air raids with strategic bombers deep into enemy territory, providing air superiority to reduce disruption while the strategic bombers kill the enemy fighters and buildings.

Tactical bombers do shine in this mission specifically because the far-flung regions where their massive range is more effective are the same regions where targeting logistics is absolutely devastating. Taking out a rail line in europe and slow the enemy, a bit, for a while. Taking out one in China? India? Siberia? Canada? How about South america or Africa? In any of those places one damaged rail will knock out supply to the entire front. If you are fighting there, do it.

In my last game as the Italians, with a foothold in the Crimea, tac were amazing as bombing the supply around Moscow (judging by the amount of supplies the have said they were destroying). The Soviet attacks completely petered out.
