EU4 or HOI4? (already posted on an EU4 thread, I just want to see different people's opinions.)

I currently own Vicky 2 and Ck2, and thoroughly enjoy both games, however, I am looking to get either EU4 or HOI4. (I am not looking for a biased opinion here). I also own HOI3, I enjoy the game, however, so far, it is not one of my favourite PDX titles. Which game would you recommend?

None of them, they're terrible. I'm so sick of these games on this engine. They all have the same time-sink-and-forget mechanic.

if you revert back with Eu4 you get a great strategy game with a lot of mechanics to play with to form your nation as you please. HOI4 has a better combat mechanic but the ai tend to all get into the same factions. In the end HOI4 always end up as a massive fight between 2 or major 3 factions with full world conquest in mind without ever having the option to peace out. Be with the winning team and you win. be with the losing team and you will be annexed or puppeted (Or you play ensieg eternal fortress game). On the contrast eu4 offers a far more reasonable peace deal options instead of HOI4's "I defeated the soviets so lets annex their entire land what can possibly go wrong?" type of peaces.

EU4 at this point is rather dated, and easily has the worst DLC policy of a majority of paradox titles. That being said, they're vastly different titles with vastly different approaches to play, and it would be in your interest to watch some gameplay of both and form your opinion on gameplay impressions.

EU4 is much closer to what you have played so far, HOI4 is quite different - watch some let´s plays you should be more informed...

I would say EU4 is the better option. But if you can both. For Eu4 I will need to say you need to revert to the last update because the new DLC broke a lot of stuff so no worth to play the last update till it is fixed. Don't get me wrong HOI4 is fun for me but if you played ck and vic then eu4 will be more your thing. Hoi4 is combat focused and on a smaller time scale. In the end it is up to you tho.

eu4 is no joke the worst paradox game (after their meme games of course) dont even bother with it, atleast hoi4 has a decent combat system

.... its so simple. hoi 4 have a lot more complexed modding system, that mean you can change practicly whole game. it is possible to make some another basic games like snake, rulete, etc. reason why i say it is its dont really matter if you like this game or not, modding is easy and you cna just change aspects of game you dont like. for example i dont like waiting 200 days for no reason to be able to declare war (fit well to blitz) so i using mods that make it shorter. in EU4 you 1. have lower amount of quality mods, 2. modding is bit harder so it would be harder for you 3. you cannot change some mechanic of game no matter what. i think year ago or something hoi 4 get variables, if you not fammiliar with what is it its basicly value that you can changing easily cause its in variable, and cause of that now you are able to make practicly anything in hoi4. if you would put lots of time into it you would be able to make doom for example..

eu4 is a streamlined map painting simulator with none of the fun complexity of ck2, none of vic2's fun economics, none of the good combat of hoi4 and none of the good roleplaying of stellaris

+ its the ugliest paradox game

That's all true, even tho it's somehow the game with the most DLC

One would think the game with the most DLC would be the most complete and all-encompassing, but one would be wrong.
