I could not find the focus I missed in that huge cluster@#$% tree.
That was exactly what I missed.
As I recall the event itself also says that choosing to embrace Ataturks ideology would make it impossible to recall the sultans guard or some such.
you can go ottoman way regardless of ideological focuses you pick. ottoman way aka "pivot to the past focus" is on 2nd focus tree where you can pick ottoman way/ allies/ axis/ balkan pact/ mediterrian pact.
You can't pick the Ottoman route without Ottoman officers returning, and wether they may return or not is determined by the election event.
If you choose democrat with the DP then the focus tree changes to purge the kemalists.
If you choose republicans then the focus tree remains as shown.
