How do you make joining the Allies as Fascist Italy work?

The game does not seem to account for you taking that part of the focus tree. Every time I have tried, strange things occur. The standard thing that happens every time though, is that Italy gets a raw deal with this path. You do all the work, Britain and France take all the land, then they kick you from the faction. It's Italy's shafting after WWI all over again, but much worse. No wonder Mussolini decided to throw in with that small mustache guy.

I just thought of something, maybe you're meant to boost Fascism in Britain to make this path work. If they manage to flip, they probably will not kick you. Mussolini did historically financially support Oswald Mosley, after all.

The extra weird timeline where Italy successfully flipped Britain to Fascism, joined the allies and defeated the German Reich, all over the bromance between Mussolini and the leader of independent Austria.

I answered my question. You can not easily flip Britain Fascist, but if Germany backs down on Austria, which from what I can gather depends on how many divisions you have near the Austrian border, things play out better. You can declare war on Yugoslavia and a few other Balkan nations for expansion, but you need to liberate countries within them as you take land, so you do not raise world tension.

I am not sure but I was just playing France, and there is a focus where instead of (buy time/go with Britain), you can do (France leads) and ally with Italy. I am not sure if you can get France to be more likely to do it.
