Are jets any good?
I've seen a lot of different opinions and posts about it, but they are on average very old, 5-6 years old, so I was wondering in the current situation if jet fighters are any good vs normal fighter planes. The stats don't seem very impressive in general except for speed. Are they even worth the switch?

Jets are awesome but you don't get them till very late and you can't mix squadrons with regular aircraft. Make a few squadrons and save them for key areas

Air speed makes a BIG difference.

I used to avoid jets because the fuel consumption, aluminium, chromium to build them was a pain keep up with with lots of countries.

Then I had a game where the AI had jets and I didnt. The difference in speed meant I could not keep up with the AI to engage them, especially for interception.

Speed is an important factor in the formulas.

by the time you get jets you should be able to win air superiority anyway with a deathstack of regular fighters, so they're usually redundant.

They used to be good (but expensive) back when they had better stats and costed tungsten but now I don't think they're worth it anymore unless you're playing a country with too much industry and oil because you have to invest a lot more to get any use out of them.

The "best" plane you can make is a propeller plane on the "jet" research body.

If Jets avoided WWII AA in a realistic way then they would be "fine" for Tac/Strat bombers. The problem is that Static AA automatically shoots down a percentage of hostile planes in the zone.
