The "Amerika Bomber" was a real thing though, Hitler was obsessed with trying to build a plane that could bomb New York from France. The project didn't go very far apart from some alleged (and likely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) secret flights to New York and/or Japan that have never been verified, and some real flight testing of a few prototypes.
Japan had a similar idea but like Germany the war was being lost so it never went anywhere either. The Brits had a general idea for a super large bomber as well for their ultra size grand slam bombs but ended up using existing designs.
Cannot assist with GER focus tree, but I bet Mack is correct :)
As for the historical side of things:
I believe the Amerika Bomber was not planned to take off from France, rather it was supposed to depart from the Azores Islands (Portuguese) in the middle of the Atlantic. They deemed it to be the only suitable chance of success for the Amerika Bomber Project to succeed. This is also part of why Hitler had interest in making Portugal a friendly nation towards Nazi Germany
Cheers
