Spain/Protugal Trees without the Spy crap?
Have they added a way to use the DLC without the spy crap?
Id very much like to have the Focus Trees but not the stupid changes.
Also Scout Cars.

No. I think you have to pay.

Not without modding as far as I understand.

I used scout cars in the beginning to help suppress unrest, I mostly just use cavalry now. They have lessened the effects of the new La Resistance mechanics in my opinion, upon release the effects were ridiculous causing significant manpower and equipment shortages where you otherwise wouldn't had them prior to La Resistance. You can for the most part, just put out the minimum effort in these areas and survive.
This guy is right listen to him. ^

You can basically ignore the spy system if you want to (its what I do) - its not really needed if you have a plan and develop your divisions and industry properly.

Minor nations are intended to only focus on intelligence departments for the extra 25% intel to each section and counter intelligence(passive defence and resistance suppression) simply due to lack of industry.

Major nations are intended to take part in all of it. Although AI doesn't use it all too well.

The OWB mod has a cool system where the civs aren't needed. Instead you spend ingame national currency(NCR Dollars,Denarius,Texan dollars, Caps etc) to upgrade your agency. If HoI base game had currency, no doubt it'd be changed to work the same way.

RT56 my friend. In the end, La Résistance is almost 100% useless because since the AI is really bad you really don't need a focus tree outside of the factories and extra research slots you can get from it. Because you can take the UK after your civil war super easy, and that will gives you much more stuff that any focus tree.

BUT since Paradox wants (for some reason) to extend more and more the focus trees, in the end of the day you have tons and tons of useless focus to do to be able to finally have the one you want to, and meanwhile, you will rarely have any tech buff for your army. Because when you will have the time to do the mitary focusses, it will be too late to use them.

It's even worst when you take in count that Paradox always adds nerfs at a country to force you to use a focus tree to take them off :/ . It's okay for commi China or Yougoslavia because it does not take ages to do and you have the time to use most of the important stuff. BUT all what we have since Walking the Tiger (after this DLC I mean) feels super weird. Now you have Portugal with IDK how many focusses, and after that compares it at Italy ... It's almost like it's not the same game for all the countries. RT56 has a much better and clearer philosophy. Many of the countries the modders are taking care of, have a real reason to use their focus tree. Have to pay for a very low quality is quite hard to justify. Most stuff added by Paradox the last years is just cosmetic for SP.

Ye you can also just use mods like Road to 56 which do give focus trees regardless of if you have DLCs or not. Plus in RT56 case it's actually got better focus trees for basically every country there is. Sad really but that's the way it is.

Just......don't bother developing your intelligence agency?

Im sorry you feel so negatively toward the spy system. I believe Hoi4 is a really solid game, but to say its flawless would obviously incorrect.

The Spies have quite a large pool of missions they can perform; different ones for different needs. Do you border the Soviets and just need defense? Easy. What if you ARE a minor nation who doesnt have the industry to compete? Steal Blueprints. Stealing blue prints takes very little in return for free research. The most powerful of these missions and last ill mention is Collaboration Govs. Very expensive, but running 2 collaboration missions in any country you are about to annex gives you 75% starting compliance. This is so unbelievably powerful.

Collab governments has minor focus tree (which means +7% recruitable pop for fascists)
Collabs give 75% Mils AND Civs, which is the highest bonus of all subject types
Collabs also do not have any negative population factor due to subject type

Of all the bs in this game, i dont think the spies are as a big of a miss as some would say. But thats just my opinion

P.S. I only play Italy, where Collabs are hugely beneficial. Italian Greece and Italian Spain make Italy STRONK

part of me has a sneaking suspicion that many of the mechanics some players call "stupid" or "crap" are just too complex for them. They attack them because they don't understand them, which is their problem and their problem alone. Maybe they should go back to the hex-based WW2 games lol
Gamer Maid Apr 16, 2021 @ 1:23am
Collab gouvernement for Italy ? Was is the point ? You can have France and the Allies before the end of 37 and after that you just have to take the US. You will have so many civs that you will saturate your own lands of military factories at the speed of light. If I have a all army of 40 width tanks and thousands of planes, what I will do with all this collab things ^^ ? Why should I take more times and factories for something I can do quicker and with a better result ?

I'm guessing most guys can win at every difficulty level playing any major county. The spy trees bring a nice range of new options for the major powers, even tho you know you'll win anyway. For minor countries, spies are too expensive, that's true; but how often have you heard about Poland's awesome WW2 spy network? I'll have to try the Collab advice above; always looking for new ways to play.

If you're not winning with every major power, then you need to learn more about playing, so the spy options probably seem useless to you.

Ive never played the DLC, Ive just read that its bad. Very Bad DLC. Not the comments about price. I ignore those.

But generally the comments about the spy stuff were negative.
I really just wanted to Scout Cars/Planes and Trees.
