Price Increase?
Unless I missed something, I noticed that after the steam sale ended, HOI4 didn't return to its normal price of $56.95 AUD, instead, it has increased to $69.95 AUD. Is this the same elsewhere?
Did I miss a piece of news or something?

Salaries in Sveden has gone up a lot… so not wonder that end product also goes up.
It is natural thing to happen!

The basegame now includes 3 DLCs which have now been discontinued being sold so that's probably it.

That’s their problem? Why is that our problem? They’re not just selling games internally. If they were just selling games in Sweden, sure. But they’re not. They’re selling games on a global market. They’re also a public company now - publically traded. If the wages are too high in Sweden, they can move to Liberia or Belarus or wherever else. High wages are a consideration for them as an international business and their consideration alone, not us as consumers and customers. Especially when you factor in their practices, actions and behaviour towards their consumers, customers, audience, fans, players, users and base. They treat us purely as an economic unit, with no consideration of us as any of those things. They act like solely a business. So they can make a solely business decision to move elsewhere where wages are lower. You cannot and will not expect us to have any sympathy for their overhead and wages when they treat us the way they do.

Whilst i agree with some of your arguments... fact is they are a business and as long as people are willing to pay that business they are doing everything right.

Yes, the value of a dollar goes down every year.
Welcome to fed economics.

I fully understand that. What I don’t understand is consumers defending, making excuses for them and justifying it. That’s not our job, that’s their job. Whether we buy that and accept that or not is another matter. I see no reason for anyone to be excusing, justifying and making up reasons for them to do this given the way they treat us purely as economic units and ‘things’ to extract money from and pay them, rather than a community and audience and playerbase and collective of fans, players, gamers and valued and respected customers, consumers and buyers.

It is not about defending. It is about knowing what is behinds events in economy!
Do you remember Covid? It did cause many changes in prices. And salaries are big part of expenses in game making industry. We don´t have to like it, but expenses does affect the prices of the games...

You are too generous and considerate of them - when they aren’t they way with us. That’s what i’m saying. I have zero sympathy if wages have risen massively in Sweden. If they want to act like a greedy, soulless, parasitic corporation - they can make cold decisions like moving elsewhere because i’m not going to support paying extra for even higher salaries in Sweden when they treat us the way they do.

There's a difference between releasing a quality fleshed out game which they haven't done in ages and planning a bunch of BS and purposely milking owners off a subscription service to mitigate their business risk.

It has nothing to do with the economy as they have been doing this for decade plus now, well before covid and has only got worse.

The quality of their games is abysmal these days. That has nothing to do with covid, and everything to do with how they plan and develop games.

If they released games and dlc to the quality that consumers expect we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Haven't seen this in the grocery markets, brother? This is the oldest trick in the book! They'll raise the price of something to make it look like the discounts are better than they actually are, and probably get you to pay more on top of that.

The drizzle of free content is redundant, when they're selling us basic features in DLC's. That's no excuse.

That's how it goes, though. Same old, same old ~ just a different day.

dude, its a $10 price increase on a game you own, that you probably own a lot of dlc on. I get company's can be ♥♥♥♥♥♥, but this game has constant updates and continues to have support long after its release. The price will eventually have to go up.
