Swiss Neutrality
If the Swiss have high relations with Germany but they have the annex war goal, will Germany attack them or leave them alone because of their high relations.

From my experience Switzerland stays out of the war if you set their AI to historical but always join the Allies if you don't.

Don't think I've seen Germany declare on Switzerland otherwise despite their annex goal (though I could be forgetting).

Think that's since BBA.

You'd think Germany would have enough to worry about without opening another front. It's a pain in the backside for Germany if the Swiss do join the Allies.

Their mountainous terrain would be annoying to break through, I'm guessing they also would join the allies if their relations go below -85 because I think they get guarantees, And I also was wandering if their miltas+mountain units+ veteran sharpshooters and anti-tank units could hold off Germany.

These days they seem to join the Allies whatever happens if they're not on historical. Doesn't matter when Germany declares on them so I don't think guarantees are the reason.

But normally it's just an inconvenient sideshow for the Axis. Despite the terrain they're defeated in fairly short order as their forces don't add up to much, as you'd expect. They really should be keeping out of the war which is why I always switch them to historical.

One exception was when the Axis managed to cut off a huge number of Allied divisions in the north of Italy and they then got trapped in Switzerland. They were cut off from their own supply (no reinforcements or replacements) but subsisted on Swiss supply. Dragged on with incredibly boring consequences but it was fairly decisive in the end.

But as the eastern front is normally well and truly open by this stage, Germany really doesn't want the distraction.

Yeah their pretty small and I love their focus tree, as a player I think you could use your intelligence to defend because I think the AI will advance if they see a opening but they probably will get destroyed in the process, Also I think the Swiss get modifiers to their economy over time because of the miltas in action which are citizens ready to fight, I like how they can recruit 20% of their population without bad modifiers.
