Playing historical non-historical

Ok, I'm playing historical non-historical. Specifically I am Germany and I want to not fight the Allies but instead honour my Anti-Comintern Pact Agreements and fight the Bolshevist threat from the East. I can even get Poland as my Ally - they never give me Danzig but that is another issue. But come Early/Mid 41 war with the Allies breaks out. It seems to relate to Ethiopia and the UK using the Ethiopian 'war' with Italy as the opportunity to pummel the Axis. Any ideas on how to avoid this? Edmund

Tell the Duce the Reich only accepts Italians for making pizzas and shining shoes ( as Italo Balbo predicted ), and dissaproves of Italian ambitions in Africa, Stick to pizzas.

Do you need Italy as an ally? I'm inclined to value Hungary/Romania/Bulgaria more.

This is something that hoi4 lacks: Actual more realistic alt-history scenarios. Instead of *Insert Minor Nation* becoming a nuclear superpower, maybe new DLCs should focus on stuff that makes sense?

Solve the Italian problem by eating them, hopefully after they've annexed Greece.

If you use your first 50pp to gain goal on DEI, then make sure you anschluss, annex Czech, puppet Slovakia, annex Jugoslavia, declare on Italy over the course of a few years. If you've built enough fast divisions you can even take Italy out before they have a civil war. That should leave things free for your plan.

If you do all the above then the Danzig for Slovakia focus with relations at 100% they'll normally accept and you can let USSR do the heavy lifting. However, when Poland joins the allies the UK/France often naval invade the USSR and it often goes well for them even tho' they can't reinforce Poland due to you owning the "Polish" ports already. I've never tried this with an allied Poland, that's maybe for tonight's session :)
