you can't. it sucks; I like to do the same thing as you describe. I usually play with LaR off.

From what i remember, changing ideology of other countries back then with next to no downsides was way to OP, especially since the AI pretty much never tried to stop it in the first place. You can still do it by using an agents in some cases, but obviously not against any big faction. It's more about getting strategically important minor countries into your faction. (And in that regard, does it really matter, which ideology korea has?)

As for the detection chance, you should definitely get suice pills early on, as that lowers the chance of getting detected, as well as sometimes dying while getting cought. On top of that it is good to have spies with the seducer trait, as that further lowers detection chance. Though the best thing to have is to get a spy from the country you want to spy on (or at least linguist, since they can acquire target nationalities sometimes), preferably even a double agent, if you're lucky enough. (really only makes sense for major countries though)

But all in all, a spy network is not supposed to be 100 % save, so you should always expect something to fail every now and than.

Also keep in mind, that you don't need to always get it to 100 % network. More often than not you can save some time and start operations earlier without that much of a downside and while you're waiting for the operation to be planned, just put the area onto a silent network, which prevents the percentage to go down, while reducing the risk of getting caught drastically.

nope the best way would have been boosting demo before you did the focus to add them to your faction/the allies

another simple feature thats missing because whats more important is Denmark and Switzerland focus trees, obviously

The more important question... is why are you playing democratic Japan? ;P

Just kidding, do what makes you happy.

well yea since if they change ideology they will leave your faction... happened to me even with smaller countries ... i disagree it wasnt OP it cost you a lot of political power and depending on a country it was almost impossible to change the regime. I tried with USSR i didnt pass 10 percent during entire game. I use it for china and indochina usually and worked for me great it wasnt OP but it was possible. anyway OP or not this DLC made it basically impossible to change ideology without coup. My agents get imprisoned all the time and with best network and three agents i can change it hardly with 0.12 a day which is hilarious considereing you need at least 60% of certain ideology to change foreign regime

Changing other countries ideology went from being way too easy to being way more trouble then it's worth.

Yeah they nerfed it into oblivion. You basically can only use it to flip countries that would otherwise never join the war: Sweden, Ireland. Everyone else joins too early and it's meaningless to change ideology once they're in a faction because they'll never leave.

They should leave after any war is finished. Early WW2 over Anchluss I saw Hungary join the Allies against Germany while it was still Unaligned. It became Fascist and left the Allies to join the Co-Prosperity Sphere, but only after the war with Germany was over.

To get a country to switch ideology and leave their faction DURING a war, Id guess you need to stage a coup in the country or something idrk
