does the achievement work for anybody? hoi4-wiki says latest patch fixed the bug, but even under 17 days still cant get this achievement.. need confirmation if anybody managed to do it.

It's fixed in the open beta patch. You actively have to opt in on the beta versions through steam to get it. If you just run on the latest version you'll have 1.13.4 on which it doesn't work.

Join the allies, win ww2 and build either railways from Sweden to south Africa and let the unit drive or build airports and paradrop the bus consecutively until you reach the cape state.

Alternatively you can send the bus as a volunteer to South Africa once WW2 starts which takes ~14 days and railroad it to cape town in under 5 days, which takes a lot less work. When I did it, I joined the allies first to build up the infrastructure in SA and a level 5 railroad from the port to cape town, then left and sent the volunteer.

I did same. But for more fun rush bus focus. Get radio janst. Change it to fascist. Pick couple fascist focuses. Nov 1940 go fascist in election. Join axis. Naval invade UK. Build lev 5 rails in axis and puppets. Strat move bus to Capetown. Around turkey if Barbarossa doing it's thing or through turkey because your fascist.
